Alex Pereira Officially Stands at 251 lbs For His 3-Division Title Target at the White House

Alex Pereira has shown an impressive transformation to heavyweight, as the Brazilian is heading toward his heavyweight fight debut at UFC White House, weighing over 250 lbs on his quest to become a 3-division title holder in UFC.

According to UFC.com, the former middleweight and lightweight champ weighed in at 251 lbs for his heavyweight debut at the official weigh-ins for UFC Freedom 250 fight card.

Interestingly, Pereira weighed 3 lbs more than his opponent, Ciryl Gane, who weighed in at 248 lbs.

Pereira currently stands at 13-3, and his weight is notable given his last 2 divisional titles.

Pereira’s weight was 185 lbs when he became the middleweight champ in 2022 against Israel Adesanya at UFC 281, just after joining the league in 2021.

In 2023, Pereira won the vacant light heavyweight belt with a second-round TKO over Jiří Procházka at UFC 295.

Now, if he defeats Ciryl Gane, who has a record of 13-2, Pereira will earn his 3rd divisional title and make history.

While Pereira showed intense transformation before the UFC Freedom 250, it's now time to see how he has been training for the fight and maintaining that physique.

Alex Pereira’s workout routine before UFC Freedom 250

Pereira’s fight against Gane features a bulked-up frame focused on explosive power, fight-specific cardio, and core strength.

His training includes many components, such as:

Contrast training and explosive power, which include:

  • Barbell high pulls
  • Medicine Ball Rotational Throws
  • Trap Bar Deadlifts to Broad Jumps.

Hypertrophy and strength training:

  • Romanian deadlift
  • Elevated Squats
  • Bent-Over Rows
  • Weighted Chin-ups
  • Self pulls.

Fight-oriented conditioning:

  • Rowing intervals
  • Assault bike sprints
  • Sparring
  • Wrestling rounds.

It would be interesting to see how Pereira adapts to the new division and whether his weight gain impacts his movements inside the Octagon.
