American wrestler returns to heavy training with 100kg incline bench press

Apollo Crews is putting the pec injury behind him, one heavy set at a time.

The wrestler, now performing under the name Uhaa Nation, is back in the gym and pushing serious weight again, recently logging seven reps on a 100 kg incline bench press. For a TNA wrestler rebuilding from a torn pectoral muscle, that number carries real weight beyond just the plates on the bar.

“Taking 100kg on the incline barbell bench press for a little ride. That last rep almost got me!” stated the caption.

The Instagram video showcases him performing seven reps. It's a functional test of whether the repaired tissue can withstand the kind of repeated pressing demands wrestling puts on the upper body, from slams to strikes to the general physicality of a live match.

The injury dates back to late January 2025, when Crews tore his pec during a match against Johnny Gargano on SmackDown. It's the kind of injury that hits pressing movements especially hard, making the incline bench a natural benchmark for tracking recovery. He underwent surgery the following month and was sidelined for the majority of the year.

The 100 kg incline press fits directly into that timeline. Incline pressing places direct, sustained stress on the upper pec and anterior shoulder, exactly the tissue compromised by a pec tear. Loading it heavy and for reps, rather than just testing a single max attempt, signals that Crews' rebuilt muscle can now handle both strength and volume — a key marker in any serious return from this type of injury.

Apollo Crews' achievements in WWE before TNA

Apollo Crews' run in WWE came to a close on April 24, 2026, ending an 11-year run with the company as part of a wave of post-WrestleMania roster cuts.

Crews signed with WWE back in 2015, beginning his career in NXT before making the jump to the main roster in 2016. Over the course of his tenure, he built a resume that included two singles championship reigns.

He captured the WWE United States Championship once during his run, adding another notable accomplishment when he won the WWE Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 37, one of the highlight moments of his WWE career.

Crews spent over a decade adapting through multiple eras of the company, moving between NXT and the main roster while picking up title reigns along the way.

Following his departure, Crews didn't stay out of the ring long. He resurfaced in TNA Wrestling, debuting under his original ring name, Uhaa Nation, opening a new chapter after more than a decade under the Apollo Crews name.

Do you think Uhaa Nation can find new heights in TNA after leaving WWE? Let us know in the comments.
