Prime Video has announced the release date and shared the first look at the upcoming action-comedy starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Alan Ritchson.

According to the May 12 X post from the 7-time Mr. Olympia, the movie “The Man with the Bag” is coming on December 2. Additionally, Amazon MGM Studios released the first-look images during its upfront presentation in New York, USA.

The director of the movie, Adam Shankman, created the holiday action comedy in which The Austrian Oak plays Santa Claus, whose magic bag is stolen.

Schwarzenegger then recruits Ritchson, who played a thief. Along with his daughter, Santa, and some other misfits, he tried to save Christmas.

The script was written by Allan Rice, and the director previously directed projects such as Disenchanted and Hairspray for Disney.

Speaking about the film, Schwarzenegger shared his experience in a December 17, 2024, Instagram post. In that post, he wrote, “Santa Claus is coming to town! It is fantastic to be shooting The Man With the Bag with @alanritchson.”

Schwarzenegger continued by praising the movie's director. He said, “One of the funniest directors I’ve worked with.”

He concluded his post by showing some love for New York City. The bodybuilder wrote, “New York City is an amazing host. I can’t wait to share all of this Christmas cheer with each and every one of you.”

The Man with the Bag has a runtime of 111 minutes and is rated PG by the Motion Picture Association. In the movie, other stars who have worked include Michael Cyril Creighton and Berkeley James. Creighton previously appeared in movies like American Fiction and Game Night. And James recently worked on the movie A Place in Hell, set to release in 2026.

However, this is not the first time Schwarzenegger, known for his tough action scenes, is set to make his fans laugh in a holiday comedy movie. He has walked that path before as well.

Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Other Holiday Comedy Movie

Schwarzenegger demonstrated his comedic skills and surprised his fans in 1988 with the movie Twins. However, his first holiday comedy movie was released in 1996.

The movie Jingle All the Way portrayed Schwarzenegger as a workaholic suburban man. He does not spend enough time with his family.

The interesting thing is that the movie is also based on the theme of Christmas, where Howard's son, played by the bodybuilding legend’s son, wanted a Christmas present from his father, who forgot to bring it.

And the movie began to pick up from there as Schwarzenegger tried to manage the damage and face more difficult challenges.

One thing that is certain about the bodybuilding legend is that, no matter what role he is playing, Schwarzenegger always masters it with the same dedication and hard work that brought him 7 Mr. Olympia titles.
