At 63, Michelle Yeoh Remains Fit With Mini Workouts

Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh has been ruling the action genre for many years, and it was astonishing to see that her fitness levels hadn't dropped one bit when showcased during the fight scene in Everything Everywhere All At Once.

But what is the secret to her fitness? The Malaysian actress revealed that 'exercise snacking' is the reason for her fitness at 63.

“Normally when I’m doing all this, I’m doing my squats,” Yeoh told Vogue while massaging her face, “Remember, you can do your kicks, you can do your stretches, while you are also waking up.”

Exercise snacking is short bursts of intense mini workouts that significantly raise the heart rate. Yeoh has been following it for a long time now.

“My earliest memory of taking care of my skin is seeing my mom do this every day—morning and night,” she said. “She’s 83, and she looks stunning.”

Yeoh laid out her routine:

Stretch

Yeoh starts her day with some kicks and stretches. According to research, regular stretching reduces muscle stiffness, boosting flexibility and blood circulation. These are especially important when you reach a certain age point.

With static stretching, you don't need to stretch your body for long. Stretching up to four minutes per session or 10 minutes per week is enough.

Squats

Squats are among the most important exercises for women and should be incorporated into their routine at every age, according to Women's Health.

The Crouching Tiger actress performs squats, especially while doing her skincare routine.

Squats are good for improving posture and building strength and power. And in fact, squatting during prolonged sitting can improve cognitive function.

Stacking

Stacking means adding movements to your everyday routine. This helps in achieving small goals without having to take time out of busy schedules.

Apart from Yeoh, there are other celebrities as well who have embraced exercise snacking.

Kristen Bell Also Finds Exercise Snacking Helpful

Michelle Yeoh isn't the only celebrity implementing exercise snacking; the Frozen star Kristen Bell is also a fan of performing her workouts in that form.

"I hear people talking about their 90-minute workouts. When am I going to get that time? Never. So I rely on exercise snacking," Bell said in an interview with Business Insider.

The actress follows a dedicated workout routine and says that exercise plays a vital role in maintaining her mental and physical health.

"I try to habit-stack, too. I let the dogs out to pee at 9 p.m. every night, and then I do 24 squats. I've done that every night for six months, and it's great because I don't have to make time," she added.
