Chris Bumstead reflects on Nick Walker's 2026 Mr. Olympia Win

Nick Walker spent years chasing the Sandow Trophy, and now that he has it, one of bodybuilding's most recognizable stars has shared his view. Chris Bumstead's reflection lands while the sport is still processing a title that was a long time coming.

Walker's win came against real doubt. Questions hung over whether he would even return to the Olympia stage, and at the press conference he spoke about tuning out the critics. On Saturday night, he answered them, beating a deep Men's Open field and taking the $600,000 first-place prize.

It marked an emotional moment within the bodybuilding community. Reacting to the win was the former Canadian Bodybuilder Chris Bumstead.

"That was crazy! That was crazy! I was just like, that is an emotional moment for Nick." Bumstead said in a video posted by 'Beyond the Stage TV' on Instagram. "The whole moment looked like everyone watching felt like it was a big deal, you know."

The two men go back a long way. Bumstead and Nick "The Mutant" Walker have trained together since before Walker earned his IFBB Pro card, including a heavy back session captured in early 2020. That shared time in the gym gives Bumstead's view of Walker's rise a personal edge.

Walker's card came in 2020 with a North American Championships win. He then took the 2021 New York Pro and the Arnold Classic Ohio, placed fifth at the 2021 Mr. Olympia and third in 2022, and won the New York Pro again in 2024 and 2025.

As Olympia Weekend settles, Walker's win remains one of its defining moments. With Bumstead's reflection added to the wider response, the story is of a champion who earned his place at the top.

Nick Walker opens up about his 2027 plans

Nick Walker now holds the Sandow Trophy, but the 2026 Mr. Olympia champion is not slowing down. Instead of settling into the win, he turned his attention straight to what comes next.

Walker made his ambitions clear right away during an interview with BackstageTV.

"The future is bright. Next is to win as many Arnolds and Olympias as I possibly can now," Walker said during the interview.

The comment raised an obvious question: would he be on stage at the 2027 Arnold Classic in March? When he was asked directly whether fans should expect to see him there, his reply was brief.

"You heard it here first, buddy."

If he follows through, that show would be his first major contest since taking the Olympia crown.

For now, Walker can enjoy reaching the goal that has driven his career for years. He has made it to the top of the sport and rediscovered the enjoyment he once had for bodybuilding.
