Chris Bumstead is used to waking up early for a workout, but after becoming a father, the bodybuilder has discovered an entirely new perspective on this.

Just two days ago, the five-time Mr. Olympia uploaded a video titled ‘Life Update,’ and within the first few seconds, Bumstead revealed why waking up early is the best thing for him right now as a father.

”It is currently 5:36 in the morning. So, I'm not going to get too deep into anything right now. But life right now has just been different,” said Bumstead.

That's because nearly a month ago, Bumstead and his partner, Courtney King welcolmed their second daughter into the world. Ever since, the retired bodybuilder has found some perspective.

“Waking up at 5:00 a.m., I understand why they call these dad hours, and I understand why my dad used to wake up at 5:00 a.m. as well, cuz it's just peaceful in the morning. There's no chaos or sleep. You can just do something that you want to do for yourself.”

Since becoming a father, Chris Bumstead has drastically changed his lifestyle. Previously, he followed strict competitive guidelines; now his life revolves around baby food, diapers, and formula, and he loves every moment of it.

But it's not the first time Bumstead has had such a revelation.

Chris Bumstead on How To Stay Healthy After Retirement

Back in 2024, a week after his first child was born, Bumstead took to Instagram to share pictures with his daughter. And within that post, he went to reveal:

"A lot can happen in a week… It’s only been 8 days, but being around a baby I’ve realized that they’re just like most people and really don’t think much at all."

These changes have been part of the bigger picture for the bodybuilder. Since retiring, he's changed certain parts of his life, including how he trains as well, as he even explained on Instagram.

"I’ve spent most of my life trying to optimize everything. Training. Work. Schedules. Output. Progress. Always asking how to do more, better, faster. And funny enough, this season of not really optimizing anything (other than a toddlers routine) has been revitalizing in its own way."
