Cristiano Ronaldo’s Ex-Chef Breaks Down Erling Haaland’s Diet
Norwegian footballer Erling Haaland fuels his elite performance by indulging in an unconventional diet, to say the least. Giorgio Barone, former private chef to footballer Cristiano Ronaldo, breaks down Haaland’s diet, calling it “the right thing to do.”
“Haaland eats organ meat like heart and liver. He's doing the right thing. [Cow's] Liver, heart and brain and their varieties, are all healthy foods. Superfoods. Cristiano also used to love liver,” Barone revealed, per Footyemporium on Instagram.
Furthermore, he often posts himself consuming huge steaks, bringing in interesting reactions from viewers worldwide.

In preparation for the 2026 World Cup, Haaland has invited several Norwegian chefs to prepare his daily meals.
"Interestingly, Haaland’s Norway arrived at the 2026 World Cup with: 6,000 oranges, 300 kg of fish, 116 kg of cheese," the IG account wrote.
The Norwegian footballer also ensures his daily meals are balanced, prioritizing adequate carbohydrates, protein, and healthy fats before his matches. Moreover, he takes great care to ensure proper hydration, often opting for electrolyte-rich drinks during matches.
These meals are designed to appease their palates while being super healthy and nutritious, helping them gear up for peak performance. To top it off, Haaland also engages in a strict workout routine that helps him stay active for his performances.
A Breakdown of Erling Haaland’s Workout Routine
Haaland emphasizes strength training, including plenty of bodyweight exercises in his workout routine. This helps him win battles and hold off defenders when performing on the ground.
As per HW Motivation, his strength training routine consists of compound movements like deadlifts, squats, bench presses, and core-focused exercises like sit-ups and planks.
He also engages in agility and speed drills, along with cardiovascular endurance. These include cone and ladder drills as well as sprinting, acceleration training, and resistance training. Cardiovascular endurance training typically consists of HIIT, swimming, long-distance running, and cycling.
In terms of Plyometric training, Haaland engages in medicine-ball exercises, box and depth jumps, and explosive push-ups. These are designed specifically to enhance his shot power, acceleration, and jumping ability.
Along with these basic exercises, Haaland performs flexibility and recovery sessions to rest his muscles and joints and keep him mobile. Haaland typically trains 5 to 6 days a week with 1 day kept for recovery. However, he usually adjusts his training days based on his match schedules.
“I work hard every day to improve in every aspect of my game. It’s about repetition and dedication,” he said, as per Sport Launches.
After daily intense training, Haaland prioritizes rest and recovery.
“Sleep is probably the most important thing in the world. To perform at the highest level, you need to rest properly.”
This philosophy underpins his entire recovery strategy, ensuring his body can sustain the demands of elite football.
