48-Year-Old Tom Hardy Shares Glimpse Of His Combat Training at Renzo Gracie's Gym
Tom Hardy just gave fans a rare glimpse into his combat training at 48. Throughout his career, he has appeared in many action films, playing high-octane roles as a comic book anti-hero, a post-apocalyptic survivor, or a tormented fighter.
In all the films, one thing remains constant: Hardy’s fit appearance and physical well-being. The secret is his active lifestyle, workouts, and physically grueling sessions, such as the combat training session he recently gave his fans a glimpse of.
On June 28, Hardy shared an Instagram post with the caption, “‘Welcome to New York, hope you have a nice day @renzogracieacademy.”
The dedicated Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu brown belt and practitioner took to the mats for sparring and boxing sessions with Ritchie Ortega, Eli Evangelista, and Robert Constance.

Hardy is an A-list celebrity, but he is still famous for his humility while working out in the gym. One example of his humble approach was evident during the REORG Open Championship in the UK in 2022, when he declined VIP treatment and blended in with other competitors.
Now, regarding the combat training approach, Hardy has a history of winning local BJJ competitions, underscoring his intense commitment. Tournaments in which he competed include:
- 2022 UMAC BJJ Open Championship, where Hardy earned the Gold Medal
- 2022 REORG Charity Open Championship, which supported first responders and military veterans, where Hardy earned a gold medal.
Hardy’s connection with combat training began in 2011 during the filming of Warrior. At that time, he used to train:
- Boxing: 2 hours
- Muay Thai and kickboxing: 2 hours
- Fight choreography: 2 hours.
So, Hardy still looks fit, like he’s in his 20s, and Men’s Health once revealed the secret.
Tom Hardy’s secret to staying in top shape in his 40s
Hardy has taken on roles that required physical transformations, such as the 2008 movie Bronson, where he played a criminal, and Warrior, where he played lean MMA fighter Tommy Conlon. So, sometimes he gained mass and muscle, and sometimes he lost it for any role.
So, what other workout styles help Hardy stay in shape?
Although Hardy has not recently revealed his overall training routine, according to Men’s Health, Hardy’s yearly workout split includes:
- Monday: Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and strength training
- Tuesday: mobility and striking
- Wednesday: Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
- Thursday: strength and striking
- Friday: Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and core.
