As the anticipation builds for the Ronda Rousey vs Gina Carano bout on May 16, Carano's startling hand speed is making her followers believe that she's ready for the clash.
Carano teamed up with the Syndicate MMA coach, John Wood, to prepare for her fight, who also coaches noted UFC stars like Merab Dvalishvili and Khalil Rountree Jr. On March 11, an Instagram update from the JAXXON Podcast co-host, Bear Degidio, displayed Carano sharpening her striking with some mitt-work.
The caption to his post read, "@ginajcarano showing off insane hand speed with head coach @bigwoodmma702 at @jaxxonpodcast."
Carano has kept her fans in the loop with all the behind-the-scenes action with her training clips. On March 5, she shared another video training alongside bantamweight champion Merab Dvalishvili, engaged in a drilling high-tempo combinations during a pad session.
Meanwhile, Rousey has also been sharing sneak peeks of her training, sharing footage of intense grappling and conditioning work. And it wouldn't be wrong to say that her training camp is also proceeding pretty smoothly.
The bout is one of the most highly anticipated matches in modern women’s MMA, marking the return to the cage for both veterans. Carano, widely regarded as one of the sport’s early pioneers, is known for her aggressive striking and powerful combinations, compared to Rousey's high-class grappling.
But, while the hype regarding this fight has been incredible, it's far from being the only exciting encounter the Rousey vs. Carano card has to offer, especially since another noted UFC fighter has been added to the card.
Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano Event to Feature a Former UFC Champion's Clash
Just as the anticipation for Rousey vs. Carano is reaching new levels, the promoters behind the fight, Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions (MVP), have added one more fight to the mix, and it's a massive one.
The May 16 event will also feature a five-round heavyweight co-main event between the former UFC heavyweight champ, Francis Ngannou, and Brazilian veteran Philipe Lins.
The fight will mark Ngannou's return to the cage after his split with the PFL, where he had his last fight against Renan Ferreira on October 19, 2024. Given 'The Predator's' devastating striking pedigree and notoriety in the MMA community, the encounter is expected to draw a massive number of eyeballs.
So, which fighters do you think will walk away with the W in the main and co-main events of the card?
