Heated Rivalry S1: Hudson Williams’ Tough Full Body Routine

Hudson Williams revealed the workout behind his physique for the breakout hit show 'Heated Rivalry'. His full-body routine focuses on hypertrophy and adapts to his demanding schedule.

In February, Hudson Williams spoke to Men’s Health magazine, where he walked the viewers through his entire full-body hypertrophy-focused workout routine.

"My dad always kept me in the gym since I was like six," joked the actor. Williams explained the sessions are typically full-body and last 45-60 minutes. He aims for five weekly gym visits, dropping to a minimum of three when busy, which also dictates his set strategy.

If the 25-year-old is training frequently in a week, he does two sets per exercise and keeps the session short, but if he is busy, he increases the workload to three or four sets per movement. His workout includes:

  • Dumbbell Flies (3–4 sets of 10–12 reps)
  • Lying Dumbbell Curls (3–4 sets of 10–12 reps)
  • Bulgarian Split Squats (3–4 sets of 8–10 reps per leg)
  • Single-Arm Seated Cable Rows (3–4 sets of 10–12 reps per arm)
  • Superset: Tricep Extensions + Lateral Raises (3–4 rounds of 10–12 reps each)
  • Hanging Leg Raises/Dragon Flags (3–4 sets of 10–15 reps)

What did Hudson William's approach for Heated Rivalry look like?

Talking about his preparation for his role as Shane Hollander, he said,

“Well, hockey players don't usually look that jacked, and then the rest are kind of just like wiry strong, or they look like they drink beer strong, you know? But then I was asking Jacob [Tierney, Heated Rivalry Showrunner]  like, "What should I look like?" And he's like, "You should look like you eat pasta. And I was like, "I don't know.”

He also mentioned that he was impressed by the physiques of his costars, particularly Connor Storrie’s, and that’s what inspired him to quit eating carbs and try to get as big as possible.

He says that if there is no compulsion to maintain a certain physique for a particular role, his goal is to get bigger, juicier, and thicker, with 10 lbs of muscle.

He even mentioned enjoying working out with his co-star Connor Storrie, "we show each other some things, and that's always fun. He showed me some bicep workouts, and I've shown him some lat workouts, even though he's just bigger and better in every department."
