How Emily Blunt Stays Fit and Lean in Her 40s: Inside Her Workout and Overall Fitness Routine

From her first performance on stage at ‘The Royal Family’ in 2001 to her latest movie ‘The Smashing Machine,’ Emily Blunt has been inspiring her fans with her impressive acting skills.

And for every role, she prepares her body with a rigorous workout regimen.

Emily Blunt has been training with Monique Eastwood for almost a decade. Her trainer once shared that, “My method is very much about agility, mobility, and flexibility, all that strong multi-directional stuff. [Emily and I] just hit it off and connected. I'd say, 'What stunts are you doing?' and she'd show me, then I'd be able to see what I needed to do to strengthen her body.”

Consistency plays a vital role in defining Emily Blunt’s fitness. She trains with her trainer 4-5 times a week for about 1 hour.

Her trainer revealed, “She has a Reformer machine at her house, so when she's home it's a lot easier to programme in what I'm going to do with her.”

The actress follows a core-strengthening and high-intensity interval training regimen to achieve a toned physique. Her trainer said, “My HIIT classes are cardio bursts; we do jumping up and down.”

Regarding her latest movie, the actress told Women’s Health, “Monique was such an essential part of the process of making The Smashing Machine, from the calming lyrical reformer workouts to clear my head for the emotional scenes ahead, to the HIIT and ballet workouts”.

Emily Blunt told Cosmopolitan that her session includes squats, jumps, plie, and planks.  She also follows a healthy habit of doing breathing techniques before going to bed. In this technique, she first breathes for 4, then holds for 4, and then lets the breath out for 4 or 8, which she learned from her trainer. 

For this movie, her routine changed to building strength, for which she performs single-leg moves, planks, curtsy with leg circle movement, leg twirls with curtsy and plies, and many such exercises with Eastwood

The Edge of Tomorrow’s actress consumes a well-balanced, healthy, and nutritious diet. Her usual breakfast includes green tea, gluten-free brown toast with peanut butter, or porridge with blackberries.

Emily Blunt’s lunch is full of protein, including tuna salad with a dressing and miso soup with a gluten-free brown roll. For her dinner, she prefers steamed veggies such as asparagus and broccoli with salmon, or a salad with courgette lasagne. Another staple dish in her diet is roasted potatoes.
