Inside Danica Patrick’s Workout and Diet Routine Over the Years

From the racing track to the gym, the former IndyCar and NASCAR driver, Danica Patrick, has followed a disciplined and focused lifestyle over the years, that include a well-maintained workout routine and diet.

With age, Patrick’s approach to fitness has changed from a simple cardio-based workout to a more balanced and structured routine. Early in her career, she preferred to stay active through yoga and running. But she later realised that these alone did not provide muscle definition.

According to 24hoursfitness, the former NASCAR driver said, “I learned you can change the size of your body with cardio, but you’ll never change the shape of your body without adding weights to your exercise routine.”

So, along with her yoga and running, she changed her training strategy and started working out with a personal trainer.

This is when she was introduced to strength-focused workouts, which could better assist her demanding racing profession. After adding resistance training to her routine, she built lean muscle and also achieved her desired overall body composition.

Currently, she follows workout methods like HIIT, Calisthenics, and weight training along with cardio.

Apart from that, the above December 2023 video from source.performance revealed that Patrick also does the following exercises.

  • Barbell walking lunge
  • Seated cable row
  • Overhead barbell press
  • Deadlift
  • Leg press
  • Dumbbell sit-up.

This combination of strength and high-intensity workouts has become her training philosophy. 

On October 10, 2025, she posted some images on Instagram from a gym in DC, with the caption, "Flew to DC to do the Pete and Bobby Challenge!!! 50 pull-ups and 100 push-ups for time. Break it up how you want and do the pull-ups kipping or strict. I did it in 5:35. What can you do?!"

According to The Spun, at 43, Patrick still follows a structured workout routine to keep her physique firm, athletic, and toned. 

However, along with the workout, Patrick has also transformed her diet over time, which helps her fuel her active lifestyle. 

Danica Patrick's Diet

In the early days of her career, Patrick followed a Paleo pescatarian diet, focusing on clean, nutrient-dense food. According to 24hoursfitness, she once admitted that “Nutrition has everything to do with feeling good, not just looking good. Eating right makes you function and feel better.”

Her diet helped her to maintain overall well-being, which was mainly comprised of:

  • Fruits
  • Vegetables
  • Nuts
  • Seeds
  • Fish
  • Eggs

However, in recent years, she has modified her diet. According to The Spun, she recently admitted on her Instagram that she now consumes fewer fruits and vegetables and follows an animal-based diet. 

Patrick prefers protein-dense meals, and she recently shared her breakfast. She wrote on her social media, “Breakfast on the go is always – 5 eggs… It’s 35 grams of protein and 25 grams of fat. Perfect.”

From a Paleo-style diet to a protein-dense eating approach, Patrick’s diet matures with her fitness goals and lifestyle.
