Inside God of War Sensation Ryan Hurst Aka Kratos’s Weight Loss Secrets

Kratos is back. Amazon Prime Video is set to launch one of the most anticipated gaming adaptations ever, God of War, produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios. And the man stepping into Kratos’ boots is none other than Sons of Anarchy standout Ryan Hurst.
The OG fans would know his name, or at least his voice, as he voiced Thor in God of War Ragnarök (2022). With two seasons already greenlit, Hurst now faces the real challenge: getting into God of War shape. So how will he do it? Let’s take a closer look.
Ryan Hurst’s Weight Loss Workout Plan
Many believe that Ryan Hurst’s weight loss is due to an illness that he has never disclosed. While rumors continue to circulate, he has never directly addressed them. That said, the future Kratos now dons a toned physique with six-pack abs on his 6-foot-5 frame.
Unlike most actors who focus their workouts on hypertrophy routines in a gym, Hurst has always incorporated movement conditioning, reflecting well the areas of motion capture and stunt work.
While his exact workout routine is still in the shadows, he does have some moves up his sleeve.
Skating: Born and brought up in Santa Monica, the Sons of Anarchy star spent his early life skateboarding at the Rip City near his home. Thanks to his skating endeavor, he built strength, coordination, and balance, which helped him navigate his later part of his life.
Skydiving: Thanks to the balance skills that he got in childhood, Hurst got into skydiving. The actor has been doing skydiving for over 20 years now with frequent visits to o Perris Valley for outdoor jumps. On his off days, he trains indoors at the Universal Citywalk, where he primarily focuses on gymnastics-style aerial control.
Yoga: While the other two are more of a hobby for Ryan, what he includes daily in his routine is Yoga. As per sources, he has four sessions every week.
Kratos, as a character, calls not only for size but also for functional strength, agility, and endurance, particularly given the combat-intensive nature of the character’s appearance and the possibility of performance capture. A more slender, athletic build may prove to be more beneficial for the shooting schedule than a massive physique.
So while we keep an eye on how he achieves that, here's what we know about his diet.
Hurst’s Nutrition Habits
Would you be surprised to know that the big beast is a big vegan food enthusiast? A few years ago, when a friend of his dropped by his home with a bunch of Vegan food, Hurst was like, “Vegan food? Are you serious?” However, that was a turning point in his life as he liked them so much that he has included them in his diet now.
In one of his conversations with the media, he expressed that he enjoys Thai vegan food a lot and is a fan of Thai red curry, tofu, vegan chicken, vegan beef, and vegan spring rolls.
Well, that was all about the man who will soon be seen as the next God of War, commanding his on-screen son, Atreus. Given that, what are your thoughts on his casting?
