Joseph Baena Opens Up About His First Bodybuilding Competition Experience

Joseph Baena is stepping out of a legendary shadow. Arnold Schwarzenegger's son just dominated his first bodybuilding competition, and he's now opening up about what the milestone experience meant to him.
Between the end of March and April, he gained a lot of attention by winning numerous gold medals and titles at two professional bodybuilding competitions.
Now, when the dust has settled, he has publicly shared his experience of following in his father's footsteps and winning back-to-back competitions with his fans and admirers.
On April 7, the 28-year-old bodybuilder posted a montage of photos from the competitions he appeared in with the caption:
“Moments I’ll never forget!” Later, sharing his experience, Schwarzenegger Jr. said: “What an incredible experience these last 3 months have been. My first prep and my first bodybuilding shows. I’ve learned more about myself, training, and dieting in these few months than I have since I started lifting weights.
Stepping on stage has always been a scary feat for me, but creating the goal and actually going for it is one of the best decisions I could have ever made. I'm grateful for the experience and grateful for all the people in my corner supporting and cheering me on! Can't wait for what’s next 💪.”

On March 28, he announced his first victory in an Instagram post, where he ranked 1st in multiple categories at the NPC Natural Colorado State competition. such as:
- The Men’s Open Body Heavy Weight Class
- Men’s Classic Physique True Novice
- Men’s Class Physique Novice
Interestingly, within one week, he again made history by winning his first Pro competition, the INBA Iron Gladiator Classic Physique title.
However, that back-to-back winning did not come without practice. Baena constantly shares his exercise and diet videos with his Instagram fans, which only shows his dedication.
Aside from that, he is also often seen practicing with his legendary father. For instance, before the NPC Natural Colorado State Championships event, Schwarzenegger was seen helping Baena with his posing at Gold's Gym.
In the meantime, before winning his second professional bodybuilding competition, during an interview with Nora Veronica Reynoso, Baena said, “I’m really excited to be a part of the INBA and to experience this wonderful program.”
Apart from this, in the same interview, he also revealed a glimpse of his dream.
Joseph Baena's Dream
During his discussion with Nora Veronica Reynoso on April 5, the interviewer talked about the standard testing process that INBA follows before allowing any participants.
Reynoso said, “Here at the INBA, we do WADA testing…. and we go by the standards of the Olympics… Because the dream is for one day to be at the Olympics.”
In response, Baena admitted, “That's right, that's the dream.”
While discussing his future goals, the fitness influencer also revealed some aspects of his fitness journey.
He said, “My fitness journey it's been a long time. Started swimming and lost a lot of the fat. And it wasn't until my junior year of college. So about 10 years ago, or eight years ago, I started lifting weights.
And fell in love with bodybuilding, seeing the improvement, the muscle gain, the strength gain. And I fell in love with the sport, even watching. But this year was the year that I said enough being afraid, enough overthinking, it's time to commit. Just do it.”
The interviewer also praised his motivation and commitment by saying, “And that's what it's about. Just to take those steps. Not only dream bigger, but take the steps…. Let's see how he does. I will follow him and see if he takes that Iron Gladiator, the mask, and the sword.”
And Baena might have impressed her after winning the mask and the sword later in the event.
