Katie Holmes, 47, uses boxing drills in her workout routine to stay fit and retain a toned physique
Katie Holmes has tried plenty of workouts over the years, but one has become the constant in her routine: boxing.
"I've been doing a lot of boxing, which I had never done before. It's thrilling," Holmes previously told Women's Health.
The 47-year-old picked up the sport a couple of years ago and has stuck with it since, telling Shape via Hello!, "I got into boxing a couple of years ago, and now I take classes at Rumble."

For Holmes, it's not just about the workout itself. The energy of a boxing class, paired with the muscles it targets, keeps her coming back.
"They play great music, and it's so fun. It targets your upper body, which is good because I can forget to do that," Holmes said, as per Women’s Health.
The mental side matters just as much to her as the physical results. Boxing has become her way of alleviating stress after a long day at work.
Holmes' instincts line up with the research. Studies show boxing pushes heart rates to 85-93% of maximum during two-minute rounds, qualifying it as vigorous-intensity exercise, while also improving muscular endurance in both the arms and core after just months of consistent classes.
It also builds coordination in ways few other workouts do, with amateur boxers outperforming non-athletes in hand-eye coordination, visual-motor skills and reaction speed in controlled testing.
And on the mental health side, a 2023 review of 16 studies found boxing reduced anxiety and depression symptoms while improving mood, self-esteem and confidence.
Exercise remains a central part of her fitness, so is her diet.
Holmes’ diet for staying fit
Katie Holmes' energy might come down to a routine simpler than most people expect.
Speaking with WSJ Magazine back in 2023, the actor revealed she typically wakes up around 8 a.m. and leans heavily on caffeine to get moving. Breakfast, though, doesn't factor into her routine at all.
"I need lots of coffee in the morning and throughout the day," Holmes said. "I'm not a breakfast person and never have been."
Lunch is where she actually eats, as per Hello!.
"I love a good lunch. I'm more of a kale salad person," Holmes said, favoring lighter, greens-based meals to fuel a schedule packed with acting, directing and creative projects.
Her mornings extend beyond food, too. Holmes typically writes three or four pages to clear her head before the day begins, sometimes pairing it with a dance class or painting session, a habit she's kept up for most of her adult life.
With boxing and her simple diet hacks, Holmes has effectively stayed fit, even at 47.
Would you try adding boxing classes to your own weekly routine?
