Larry Wheels Displays Boxing Skills at Gym and Earns Netizens’ Appraisal

Larry Wheels and Larry Holmes are two completely different people, with the former being a bodybuilder and the latter being a boxer. However, the distinction between them was recently erased, prompting fans to laud Wheels.

While fans are used to watching Wheels sweat it out in the gym, he recently bridged the gap with Mike Tyson's foe, Larry Holmes. Wheels shared an Instagram post on June 11 showing him working through two of the most popular boxing training drills.

It started with the 31-year-old going for continuous straight punches on the mitts held by his coach. However, the strongman-bodybuilder changed the drill soon, as he delved into the shoe-shine technique next with continuous short uppercuts to the mitts.

Wheels has been spotted performing several bodybuilding workouts, like weighted squats, bicep curls, and many more. A few days ago, he feared breaking his back while trying out the Ronnie Coleman-style weighted squats, with 'The King' cheering him from the background.

However, since the 31-year-old also competes in strongman competitions, combat training is a significant part of his training routine. A look at his Instagram profile displays that the aforementioned instance is far from being the only time that he has delved into combat sports training.

An Instagram post from the International Wrestling League earlier this month showcased the bodybuilder-strongman going for a short session of grappling training at the Fusion X-cel Performance combat sports gym. Wheels' performance in the session spoke volumes about his progress as he managed to get back up after being taken down.

Similarly, Wheels displayed his progress in the striking department with another Instagram post on June 1. It showcased the 31-year-old sharpening his kickboxing skills with the help of Jonathan Calderon, a professional combat sports coach.

And just like both of these posts, his recent boxing drill also received a plethora of reactions from fans.

What did fans say after watching Larry Wheels' boxing drill?

Most fans who took to the comments section of Wheels' boxing drill Instagram post were considerate enough not to compare his prowess to that of regular combat sports athletes. They focused their comments on Wheels' improvement, rather than diminishing him with comparisons.

One of them wrote, "Good work, Larry," while another follower stated, "He’s getting better." One more echoed the stance, writing, "Dang Larry, you looking way more smooth."

A fourth fan hyped up his commitment, writing, "Bruh gonna be a monster boxer."

However, all the comments on Wheels' post didn't carry a positive tone. Some actually compared his hand speed to that of professional boxers, with one saying, "Nah, bro. Nowhere near. Fast for a muscleman, maybe, but that’s where it stops."

A second one expressed similar thoughts and penned, "No, nowhere fast."

Well, regardless of what fans said, Wheels' decision to train in a different sporting genre while being a household name in a different field can certainly be respected.

If you were to comment on his boxing drill, which words would you use? Let us know in the comments.
