Mark Wahlberg shares how workouts helped him deal with multiple injuries despite zero surgery
The American actor and former rapper, Mark Wahlberg, maintains a fit and aesthetic physique even at age 55.
Despite having multiple injuries, he didn’t undergo any surgery and came back to the screen with a fit physique. His injuries ranged from torn menisci and torn shoulder labrums to herniated discs. So let’s see how he managed them without any surgeries.
On July 10, the official Instagram handle for “The 4AM Club With Mark Wahlberg” shared a video, captioned “Countless injuries. Zero surgeries. Here’s why Mark Wahlberg relies on corrective exercise to keep his body performing at its best.”

“I've had many a doctor trying to cut me open. Torn labrums, both shoulders," Wahlberg said in the video. "Three hernia discs in my back. Bad elbows, bad hands.” Later in the video, he explained how he remedies them and said, “Just corrective exercise. 'Cause surgery, once you have surgery, the degeneration is still gonna be there. It's not worth it.”
This isn’t the first time the Union actor has talked about refusing surgery. In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE Magazine, he revealed that during filming of “Arthur the King,” he tore his meniscus on the first day. In fact, he even continued filming while he was injured.
He further decided that he wouldn’t have surgery and said, “I prefer to try to do corrective exercises versus surgery. It's not my thing.”
However, he didn’t go through an operation; he went through corrective exercises and a proper diet.
For the “Flight Risk” actor, in addition to exercise and training, another important factor is his diet.
Mark Wahlberg’s diet
Wahlberg eats a healthy, well-balanced, and nutritious diet, which helps him fuel his 4 AM gym sessions and his busy schedule.
On June 13, “4am_club_with_mark_wahlberg” shared a video on Instagram, captioned “Everything Mark Wahlberg Eats in a Day to Build Muscle.” In the video, the actor appeared alongside American comedian and internet personality Hannah Stocking.
Wahlberg shared his diet, saying, “Three meals in a six-hour window on upper body day.” His meal plan includes:
Breakfast
- Eggs
- Berries
- Salmon
- Probiotics
Lunch
- Sweet potatoes
- Chicken
Snacks
- Fish/ any source of protein
Dinner
- Steak
- Beans
This combination of intense training and healthy eating is the real secret to the "Ted" actor's fit physique at 55.
