Matt Greggo Turns to Jay Cutler-Style Diet for Chicago Pro Prep

The renowned Men's Classic Physique bodybuilder Matt Greggo has adopted Jay Cutler's method to prepare for the upcoming 2026 Chicago Pro. And he paid the most attention to the dietary part, with a significant boost in the calorie count of his regular diet.

Greggo displayed his mettle as a Classic Physique competitor at the 2025 Arnold Classic, giving Logan Franklin and the champion, Mike Sommerfeld, a run for their money. But while the 30-year-old secured third place in the contest, his dietary overhaul for the Chicago Pro 2026 suggests that he wants to be an even better version of himself.

"I guess we’re doing a Jay Cutler-style diet. Three and a half weeks out from the Chicago Pro, and I feel it," said Greggo as per a June 26 report from Fitness Volt.

It also disclosed that the 30-year-old had shifted to a 4,100-calorie diet to prepare for the Chicago Pro 2026. The exact amount of macronutrients that make up his diet is as follows:

  • Carbs: 605g
  • Fats: 80g

Now, as per Fitness Volt, here are the meals he eats to maintain his planned amount of calorie intake.

  • 1 slice of sourdough bread
  • Butter
  • Cream of rice
  • Honey
  • Whey protein

Meal 2 (Pre-Workout)

  • Red Hot Sauce
  • Salt

Meal 3 (Post-Workout)

  • Soy sauce

Meal 4 (Protein Pudding)

  • Vanilla whey protein
  • Peanut butter
  • LaCroix

Meal 5

  • Cooked shrimp
  • Rice
  • Honey
  • Soy sauce
  • Steak

Well, the calorie count of Greggo's daily meals speaks volumes about why he compared his diet to Cutler's

Jay Cutler maintained a diet with even more calories

There's a reason why Cutler is known as one of the toughest competitors of the bodybuilding legend, Ronnie Coleman. Besides 'The King,' Cutler is also one of the pioneers of the Mass Monster-style physique, and continues to be an inspiration for several modern contestants.

But while Cutler's workouts and training principles are followed by many, his staggeringly high-calorie diet was also a major factor behind his Mass Monster physique that earned him the Mr. Olympia title four times in his career.

According to Steel Supplements, Cutler used to maintain an almost 5000-calorie diet during his days of competing actively. The report also revealed that the 4x Mr. Olympia consumed seven meals every day to maintain his daily total calorie intake.

Well, it looks like Gerggo is also targeting a Cutler-like Mass Monster build for the Chicago Pro 2026. Do you think his preparation will be good enough to win the contest?
