Max Holloway’s 145 Lbs to 170 Lbs Move Grabs Attention Before UFC 329

While several UFC fighters have decided to move up in weight to date, there aren't many who have jumped up two weight classes. This is why Max Holloway's move to welterweight for his UFC 329 encounter is sparking lots of discussions in the community.

Now, the Hawaiian fighter is gearing up for his first welterweight (170 lbs) encounter at UFC 329 against the noted Conor McGregor. But a recent Instagram update from Home Of Fight displayed an interesting feature about Holloway's featherweight and welterweight physiques.

The image accompanying the post presented a comparison between 'Blessed's' featherweight and welterweight physiques. In most cases, the stature of the fighters moving up in weight changes visibly. But Holloway's physique displayed only meager changes despite moving up two weight classes, with his core and biceps appearing marginally bigger.

The post garnered lots of attention from fans and fetched over 3k likes. Additionally, several fans also took to the comments section to highlight how Holloway's physique displayed minimal differences despite moving up from 145 lbs to 170 lbs.

Holloway entered the UFC as a featherweight (145 lbs) and established a stellar record, bagging the featherweight title on two different occasions. However, he also displayed his might at lightweight (155lbs) by winning two out of his three fights so far, one of which also made him the UFC BMF champion.

But while fans couldn't notice much difference in Holloway's featherweight and welterweight physiques, the Hawaiian fighter is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that his UFC 329 fight with McGregor doesn't end the way their first fight concluded.

Max Holloway's Training Regimen for UFC 329

Holloway and McGregor met each other inside the octagon for the first time at UFC Fight Night 26 on August 17, 2013. It was a forgettable night for Holloway as he lost all three rounds to McGregor, picking up a unanimous decision defeat.

However, a video uploaded two days ago on Holloway's YouTube channel showed that the former UFC BMF champion is putting in a lot of effort into his training camp to ensure that their rematch doesn't end the same way.

'Blessed' was seen working on both aspects of his training: physical conditioning and combat skills. So, here's a look at the activities that he is delving into in his UFC 329 training camp:

Strength Training and Physical Conditioning

  • Dumbbell jumps
  • Stepping in and out of a ring with one foot (to improve footwork)
  • Jammed-grip arm snatch-lifts
  • Kettlebell raises (first alternately and then with one in each hand)
  • Hop push-ups

Sharpening Combat Skills

  • Hitting the mitts with coach
  • Sparring with a partner

So, with the combination of these training activities and a remarkably lean physique at welterweight, do you think Holloway will manage to overturn the results of his rematch with McGregor?
