As she turns 55, Monica Brant is opening up about how she’s reshaping her routine for longevity. The former bodybuilder, who last competed at 46, says she has slowed things down in recent years.
The former Olympia fitness champion took to Instagram to share an update on her life. While cooking steaks for her relatives, Monica also addressed what it feels like to be 55 and still working out, “Nothing too major, but you know, at 55, haven't competed in a while and I'm having to learn kind of how to redo things for myself.”
Brant revealed that she took a few years away from the gym and intense training, “I had some complications coming off the horse in 2017 and then going through whatever menopause stuff. And everything kind of stimulated.” The last time she stepped on stage was in 2016 at 46, and a year later, she faced complications, which ultimately forced her to step away from competing.
“So I've been working through some of these complications in my body, which is fine because I'm really learning some good stuff about spine and how to help with all the joints and how to keep the joints healthy now. I mean, I've always been an athlete, so I've never had to worry about it so much,” she added.
Well, how does she train now? Let’s hear it from her.
“I Want To Feel Good,” Said Monica Brant About Her Fitness
She concluded, saying that despite having issues right now with her spine and joints, she is training for longevity. “I want to feel good. I want to be strong. I want to be capable and I want to be able to do the things that I love.”
Monica Brant stood as one of the true icons in the bodybuilding world, widely regarded as a trailblazer of the sport. She competed at the very first Fitness Olympia back in 1995 and later returned to the spotlight of the inaugural Figure Olympia lineup eight years later.
Years have passed since her peak, and now she is taking everything a bit slowly. She understands that she doesn’t have the capability she had years ago, but that’s okay.
