98-year-old man shares his fitness routine, which includes 40 press-ups every day

Being active in your late 80s or 90s is rare, but 98-year-old Bill Kober proves that age is just a number. Kober, hailing from Woodbridge, Suffolk, England, recently made headlines when he shared his daily fitness routine, consisting of 40 press-ups daily.

An Instagram video shared by BBC Suffolk on June 24, 2026, showcases Kober engaging in a friendly competition with the young interviewer. Kober completes 15 press-ups with ease, astonishing everyone watching.

“98-year-old Bill from Woodbridge does at least 40 press-ups every day without fail - 20 in the morning and another 20 in the evening,” stated the caption.

His healthy attitude towards fitness is not only inspiring but also incredible for maintaining good health.

“It’s a case of ‘I do it because I’m able to’ and they say 'use it or lose it,'” said Krober. “And I don’t want to lose it.”

Lastly, he credits his longevity to his genes, saying,

“The key to long life is getting good genes," Kober admitted. "I've had good genes passed down to me, and obviously they're working well."

Aside from 40 press-ups daily, Kober practices Pilates regularly. He also prefers keeping an active lifestyle instead of merely relying on working out.

How Pilates helps Bill Kober stay strong at 98

Despite his age, Kober enjoys practising Pilates regularly, and recently mastered the "crow" pose.

"Only in my later years have I realised that I've got this ability, and so I do it because I'm able to,” he said, as per BBC News.

Pilates has been an excellent exercise for Kober, helping him stay balanced, strong, and stable, enabling him to engage in different activities despite his age. Kober shared how he recently mastered the challenging ‘Crow Pose’ in Pilates, demonstrating his upper body strength and coordination.

This, along with his daily press-ups, helps him remain mobile and independent.

As per a study conducted by the NHS, adults over the age of 65 should engage in light physical activities daily. Furthermore, they should also engage in exercises that improve flexibility, balance, and strength at least twice a week.

It is also recommended for older adults to reduce a sedentary lifestyle. This means reducing the time spent sitting down or lying in bed. They should also target getting at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity or 75 minutes of vigorous physical activity every week.

Kober, at 98, consistently proves that age is not a barrier to fitness. Have you started the regular fitness routine that will help you stay as active and fit as Kober in his 90s?
