Once Young Brock Lesnar Lifted the Legendary Three-Hundred-and Thirty-Two-kg Dinnie Stones
Long before Brock Lesnar was known as WWE’s “Beast Incarnate,” he had already started turning heads with unbelievable feats of strength. The legendary stones of Dinnie, located at the Potarch Bridge in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, weigh a combined 322 kg (733 lbs). They are regarded as one of the toughest challenges for strongmen.
And yet, somehow, young Lesnar could lift both rocks effortlessly. Was he really endowed with supernatural strength? No wonder this young hero became one of the most famous WWE legends in the world.
The history of these stones is traced back to the era of Donald Dinnie, a Scottish weightlifter, credited with their creation in the 1800s. However, what makes carrying such stones particularly unique is not just their weight.
The stones have an uneven shape and thick iron rings, making them awkward to balance and control. Unlike modern gym lifts, the iron rings are difficult to grip onto, even for strongmen.
Since the massive feat executed by Lesnar, several other famous lifters have completed the Dinnie Stones challenge. Some of them include Mark Felix, Brian Shaw, and Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson.
How Farm Life Helped Brock Lesnar Build Monster Strength
Lesnar grew up on a dairy farm in Webster, South Dakota. He has often fondly reminisced about his life on the farm, talking about the intense physical labor he endured from a young age.
From lifting heavy bales of hay to carrying equipment, life on the farm was tough. However, it is this very aspect that helped him grow massive, raw strength, long before he ever hit a gym.
Soon after, he began his training as an amateur wrestler at the University of Minnesota. He went on to become an NCAA heavyweight champion.
A mix of Olympic-style lifting, explosive wrestling drills, sprint training, and conditioning sessions helped him build his ‘superhuman’ strength.
In fact, it was because of this, along with his raw strength as a farmer, that he ended up becoming a legend.
Lesnar was able to pass the Dinnie Stones test well before he became involved in combat sports. While only a few other top athletes were able to pass the challenge, Lesnar's feat is still celebrated in the realm of power sports.
