104-Year-Old Reveals His Daily Diet Behind Healthy Longevity
Age is just a number, and for Mike Fremont, it's a triple-digit one. But the way he moves is almost unbelievable. The 104-year-old Fremont is giving the youth some serious fitness goals by running marathons and doing pull-ups.
Fremont also loves canoeing with his wife and does it two to three times every week. However, his longevity is no untold secret. He credits it entirely to his diet.
When asked what he thought people should eat as a centenarian, he immediately said, "Vegetables."
Fremont's meals mostly consist of whole foods, vegetables, and macrobiotic eating. He adopted this diet in his late 60s, after he was diagnosed with an advanced case of colorectal cancer.
Initially, doctors were not hopeful and told him he may have only months to live. But Fremont was stubbornly optimistic and determined to live longer. He did not accept the doctor's advice and decided to change his lifestyle rather than count the days.
The first thing he did was to cut down stress and turn vegan. He also started leading an extremely active lifestyle.
Fremont's presence is not limited to his wife and followers. His story has been acknowledged by many professionals and enthusiasts in the fitness and sports world.
Fremont Is Still Going Strong At 104
Mike Fremont is now being widely recognized, and his story has been shared by ultra-runner Harvey Lewis.
This year, he completed the Flying Pig Marathon one-mile race. When reporters asked why, his answer was prompt.
"Because I can," said Mike Fremont, reflected his attitude towards life.
He also completed the annual Paddlefest alongside his wife.
Lewis has documented Mike's entire journey on Instagram. He notes that he has seen people who are in their 30s, 40s, and 50s who are much less fit than Mike.
"Much is to the mindset, as well as lifestyle choices," Lewis wrote.
Fremont recently celebrated his 104th birthday in Florida with his wife, Marilyn. At 104, Fremont continues to make a positive impact on people's lives.
