Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Gym Video Gets Reactions From Phil Heath & Derek Lunsford

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. may be 72, but he doesn't like skipping his workout days, and his efforts recently earned him a shoutout from noted bodybuilding legends Phil Heath & Derek Lunsford.
Besides exercising, Kennedy Jr. frequently shares videos of his workouts on social media. On February 28, the 26th United States Secretary of Health and Human Services posted an Instagram video featuring his leg presses.
The caption to his post disclosed his training location as he penned, "Leg day in Austin."
Unsurprisingly, the Secretary of Health and Human Services' workout video went viral, with more than 30,000 likes and thousands of comments, including reactions from Heath and Lunsford.
The 7x Mr. Olympia, Heath, stated, “Nicely done, sir,” while the 2025 Arnold Classic champion, Lunsford, mentioned, “Real American."
Such praises and recognition from bodybuilding legends only show the level of physical conditioning and discipline Kennedy Jr. has maintained even in his 70s.
But RFK Jr.’s fitness is not limited to gym lifts only. The author of the book “The Real Anthony Fauci” has also participated in high-intensity endurance challenges to test his stamina and strength.
However, his fitness at 72 doesn't stem from just his workouts.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s Eating and Lifestyle Habits Help Him Stay Fit
During his appearance on the January 20, 2026, episode of USA TODAY's Extremely Normal show, RFK Jr. shared a detailed eating habit that helps him maintain his fitness. He said, “I am on a carnivore diet. I only eat meat or fermented foods.”
According to registered dietitian Jamie Nadeau, this type of diet consists of animal-based foods such as fish and small amounts of dairy. A carnivore diet can be beneficial for maintaining health, as it facilitates weight loss and helps maintain the required muscle volume.
Besides diet, Kennedy Jr. also maintains a lifestyle that backs his fitness journey. On July 3, 2024, he revealed a few more factors behind his health through an Instagram post. He said, “I go to the gym every day, I hike every day, I don't ever eat processed food, I do intermittent fasting”.
So, while Kennedy Jr. is impressing bodybuilding champions like Heath and Lunsford with his workouts at 72, do you think you'll be able to maintain such vitality at his age?
