Ronda Rousey Shares Training Routine for Gina Carano Fight on May 16
The Gina Carano vs. Ronda Rousey fight is just days away now, and to capture the preparations of Ronda Rousey, the Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) team went to Las Vegas.
After giving fans a tour of Gina Carano's training camp, MVP shared another video on YouTube on May 3. This time, it was with Rousey. Rousey is training in Las Vegas under head coach Ricky Lundell.
Talking about what she feels about the fight, Rousey said, "I really was able to find my love for the sport again because of this fight. I absolutely love martial arts.... Enjoying that mastery is something incredible."
In the video, Rousey takes her fans through a typical day at her training camp. The 38-year-old specializes in judo, so her training involved everything from cardio to striking and judo-based submission grappling.
And after a hard training day, Rousey needed an equally effective recovery system. Right after her sessions, she went for the sauna and then the ice bath. Her recovery routine also features hyperbaric chamber sessions to aid muscle repair.
Rousey added, "This is probably the last time in my life that my body is going to be able to peak like this and be able to meet the peak of my athleticism."
The fight is due on May 16 at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles (Inglewood), California, and will also feature two other fights: Nate Diaz vs. Mike Perry and Francis Ngannou vs. Philipe Lins.
Ronda Rousey's Approach to the 2026 Training Camp
The MVP YouTube video also features Rousey's head coach, Ricky Lundell, who talks about how Rousey has evolved over the years.
She’s now balancing family life with training, which is very different from when she was an active MMA fighter, a more demanding routine. This time, she turned her training into a source of energy and positivity.
When asked about her fighting capabilities, Ricky answered with, "She goes out there, and you're actually going to watch a fight. You're not going to watch a glorified sparring match. You're not going to watch two people just trying to make some money. You're going to watch a real fight."
Lundell also jokingly recalled the day Rousey called him to ask him to coach her, "She started really thinking about Gina, and she called me right after having her baby, and I knew right then. She goes, "Hey." And I just said, "Who we fighting?" And she laughed. She said, "I want to fight Gina." And I was like, "Well, let's do it."
