The Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano fight may be two months away, but Rousey doesn't want to leave any stone unturned to prepare herself, and her training videos display that she is doing it efficiently.
On March 14, the organizing authority of the encounter, Most Valuable Promotions, shared an Instagram post featuring a clip from Rousey's strength and cardio training session. It displayed Rousey repeatedly slamming a medicine ball with rope assistance, looking as explosive as ever.
The caption to MVP's post summed up Rousey's mood perfectly. It said, “Ronda Rousey is looking EXPLOSIVE in Camp for her fight with Gina Carano on Saturday, May 16th.”
The inaugural UFC women’s champion has certainly kept her fans in the loop with her training clips. Just two weeks ago, she dropped footage of her working on her gi BJJ skills against her teammates, and she looked sharp, like she was while pursuing her MMA career actively.
It must be noted that she now has a completely new team at her disposal, and she is working on every aspect of MMA, not grappling and cardio.
“I've been training harder than ever. I have an entirely new team around me now. I'm better than I've ever been. I'm super strong and fast, my technique. I'm back!" said Rousey in her conversation with MVP Uncut.
Well, Rousey is looking explosive, and she has a plan. She’s looking to rewrite her MMA story.
Ronda Rousey Looks to Rewrite the End of Her MMA Career on May 16
It’s been a decade since Rousey stepped inside an MMA match. Her last clash against Amanda Nunes ended in a round 1 defeat, which seemingly closed the chapter on her MMA journey. But the former UFC women’s champion is now looking to rewrite that ending and finish on a better note.
“The way things ended [in MMA] was really heartbreaking for me," said Rousey. “[Carano] inspired me to pick myself up and to go after the fight I always wanted. This is the biggest fight in MMA right now. This isn't a charity card or nostalgia card; this is the biggest fight in the world. This is fate for us.”
Both women are returning after years of inactivity. While Rousey is making her comeback after a decade, Carano returns after 17 years away, and both are currently riding losing streaks.
Given that, who do you think will overturn their streak to add a win? Let us know in the comments.
