Ronnie Coleman Demeans Modern-Day Bodybuilding as He Predicts to ‘Easily’ Vanquish Current Mr. Olympia Winner

Right on the cusp of returning to working out properly, Ronnie Coleman thinks he can still be at the peak of his powers.

Speaking to formerly the World's Strongest Man, Eddie Hall, Coleman claimed he could beat today's generation of body builders.

“I’d do amazing. Easily. I don’t think I’d have to train as hard or diet as hard. I’d probably diet five days a week.”

At the moment, Hadi Choopan, Derek Lunsford, and Chris Bumstead define the pinnacle of modern bodybuilding. Could they have beat him? Hadi Choopan owns a single Mr. Olympia title, Derek Lunsford has captured three non-consecutive titles, and Chris Bumstead reigns with six Classic Physique Olympias.

But Ronnie Coleman? He won consecutively, during bodybuilding’s Golden Era against killers like Jay Cutler, Kevin Levrone, Flex Wheeler, and Chris Cormier.

He still holds one of the heaviest leg-press feats ever recorded, driving a staggering 2,300 lbs. But taking on that kind of pressure has left Coleman with lifelong injuries.

Ronnie Coleman won't let the injuries and surgeries hold him back

As fans may remember, Ronnie Coleman has had a bunch of surgeries, some that have made walking incredibly difficult. Those troubles increased in 2025.

Back in June, Ronnie Coleman was blindsided by a life-threatening case of sepsis that pulled him out of training and forced him to focus on his internal health for once. But the real question is: how long can anyone keep The King away from the iron?

After a brutal fight with sepsis, Ronnie Coleman was back in the gym just months after the scare. On his Instagram handle, the 8-time Mr. Olympia was already seen hammering out row variations.

“Feels good to be back in the gym repping that Light Weight Baby!” He captioned on his post.

Looking ahead to 2026, The King is gearing up for a full-scale return. But can he truly recapture his old form? Only time will tell.
