Fitness influencer Ryan Kolton revealed the one truth most men ignore when building an elite physique. It’s not a new workout or a special supplement. The secret is a mindset that bodybuilding legends have preached for years.

Kolton wears many hats as a fitness influencer, actor, model, creative director, and Mr. New York. His ripped physique and fitness-related Instagram posts not only attract his fans but also garner attention from many fitness-focused media outlets.

One of the media outlets is Men’s Active, which posted a short clip of Kolton flexing and pumping up his muscles at the gym.

However, what caught fitness enthusiasts' attention was the video's caption, which reveals Kotlon’s philosophy that most men overlook when building muscle.

The caption of the video that was posted on April 4 says:

“Ryan Kolton won Mr. New York and reached millions with one sentence: “I wasn’t always like this.” No program reveal. No supplement pitch. Just the truth most men avoid.”

According to the post, he dedicated years of hard work before achieving that physique. It says, “At 5’10/1,78m and around 160,94 lb/73kg of stage-ready muscle, that physique is the result of a process — not a peak week.”

It continued, “Most men quit at month 3 because they expected month 36 results. The men who don’t quit are the ones who stop measuring progress in weeks. The body follows the decision, not the other way around.”

Even his philosophy replicated the mindset of the legends of bodybuilding.

For instance, 7-time Mr. Olympia Arnold Schwarzenegger once said, “Bodybuilding is much like any other sport. To be successful, you must dedicate yourself 100% to your training, diet, and mental approach.”

According to Lee Priest, “Bodybuilding isn’t 90 minutes in the gym. It’s a lifestyle”. And Ronnie Coleman, the 8-time Mr. Olympia, once said, “Everybody wants to be a bodybuilder, but don’t nobody wants to lift heavy a** weights.”

While Kolton has built his physique over years of hard work, he also revealed how consistent dreaming and a mindset of overcoming challenges can make a person successful.

Ryan Kolton’s Approach of Never Giving Up

On March 20, Kolton shared his story of going from a young dream chaser to representing New York at the 2026 Mr. USA with a heartfelt message on Instagram.

In the post, he said, “My story started like any kid's. I dreamed of becoming everything. A race car driver, a doctor, a pilot, an athlete.

Every morning I woke up electrified, ready to chase something larger than myself. Life, however, had other plans for me. It took me through challenges, victories, losses, and unexpected paths across the world.”

However, despite facing many challenges, his heart never wavered. As he was growing up, he learned grit, resilience, and the importance of never giving up.

He said, “Still pushing. Pushing forward. Let's see where the world will take me.”

So, most people lose patience and give up before their body has a chance to prove itself.
