68-year-old Dolph Lundgren shares his chest and back workout footage and inspires the modern era
Dolph Lundgren is still proving age means nothing in the gym.
At 68, the Swedish actor and former competitive fighter shared footage of his weekend chest and back session on Instagram, once again turning heads across generations of fans.
“Weekend workout - Back & Chest,” stated the caption of his Instagram video.
The workout, posted by Lundgren on his Instagram account, opened with seated cable rows, loading the mid-back with a strong, controlled contraction. From there, Lundgren moved to lat pulldowns, keeping strict form to engage the lats and build width fully.

Bench-supported dumbbell rows came next. Bracing his chest against the bench eliminated momentum entirely, forcing the back to do all the work, a variation favored by experienced lifters looking to train heavy while protecting the lower back.
For chest, Lundgren switched to the Smith machine bench press, using the guided bar path to focus purely on pressing power without the added stability demands of a free barbell. He closed the session with cable flyes, stretching and contracting through a full range of motion for maximum chest isolation.
What stands out isn't just the exercise selection. It's the execution. Lundgren moved with controlled tempo and clear mind-muscle connection throughout, with no rushed sets or sloppy form anywhere in the video.
Fans react to Dolph Lundgren’s workout session
Fans flooded the comments with praise, calling him a living legend and pointing to his longevity as proof that disciplined training still works. Many younger lifters noted how motivating it is to see someone his age training with this much intensity.
“Dolph Lundgren: Icon. Mentor. Legend. Much love from a fan.”
Another fan echoed the sentiment
“You are truly inspiring.”
Best known for playing Ivan Drago in the Rocky films, Lundgren has maintained an athletic physique few actors his age can match, a direct result of decades of consistent, no-frills training. A fan paid homage to this fact, stating:
“Love the fact the icons of the 80s are still in the gym being iconic!!!”
A fan took a humorous dig at him with a throwback to the Rocky films.
“Are you training to defeat the Italian Stallion?” referencing his opponent, Rocky Balboa, played by Sylvester Stallone in these films.
Another comment from a fan referenced his movie “He-Man” and his iconic catchphrase.
“Go He-Man! I HAVE THE POWER!!!”
The video serves as another reminder that hard work and smart programming hold up regardless of age, even as most people slow down over time.
Would Lundgren's chest and back routine fit into your own training split?
