Taylor Swift on Her Least Favourite Exercise and What Helped Her to Get Athletic for the Era’s Tour
The Eras tour featured some of the most elaborate and innovative sets for almost every song. Taylor Swift kept up, with lightning-quick outfit changes and choreography for every song in the set. And in episode three of Disney+’s End of an Era docuseries, Swift opened up about just how intense things got.
Taylor Swift reflected on just how intense her training became ahead of the record-breaking tour. While talking about her routine, the singer-songwriter also revealed the exercises she disliked.
With feet tucked into a resistance band, the pull-ups were easily her least favorite. "In no way do I ever apply this at any point in the show. I just want to flag that as I do every time I have to do pull-ups,” the pop star reasoned and awarded the exercise with double thumbs down.
Despite her dislike for pull-ups, Swift understood why training was necessary. "I've never worked out this much in my life—it's horrible,” Taylor Swift joked.

“I really had to up my game in terms of physical training. Six months ahead of my first rehearsal, running on the treadmill every single day at the tempo of the songs that I was playing while singing them out loud,” Swift added.
Celebrity coach Kirk Myers helped the pop icon get in shape. Swift did medicine ball sit-ups, sledgehammer swings, battle ropes, Russian twists, and leg raises. And of course, the cardio sessions to ensure she could perform 40 songs in a single go.
Kirk Myers trained Taylor Swift like an athlete
Mayer explained his approach for the routine. "It's tailored. We approached her training for the Eras Tour with the mindset of a professional athlete. There was an 'off-season' when she wasn't touring and 'in-season' when she was," he added.
Myers also revealed that Swift used to train for up to two hours a day for six days a week. And that was during her downtime.
"It's super-inspiring to see her consistently overcome obstacles and become better and stronger in the end,” Myers stated. “This also translates into her training and throughout her workouts."
"I give her a difficult exercise or challenging workout, not only is she able to complete and push through it, but she also perseveres, moving forward into the next exercise," Mayers said about Swift's resiliency.
After all, the record-breaking Era Tour demanded far more than just her voice. Taylor Swift may have made it look easy, but she needed to train like an athlete for each show.
