Tim Robards, 43, Built His Physique Without a Crash Diet or Hollywood Trainer: Here’s How

Tim Robards, the Australian actor and chiropractor, has recently been in the news for his role in the romantic comedy movie From Italy with Love. Apart from his acting, what captured millions of fans' attention is his shredded physique and persona, which the actor built without crash dieting or a Hollywood trainer.

So, what is the secret behind his fitness?

On May 2, the Instagram account of Men's Active shared a post featuring a photo of Robards in a bare body and revealing the secret in the caption.

According to the post, the physique “Came from a system he built himself over two decades as a sports chiropractor and calisthenics athlete.”

So, the method the actor follows is known as The Robards method, and it is built around bodyweight resistance, including:

  • Gymnastic rings
  • Progressive calisthenics
  • Elastic bands

The post says, “The training targets strength, muscular endurance, and mobility simultaneously. A typical session includes muscle-ups, L-sits, skin the cat, dips, and pull-ups — 5 rounds, no machines.”

According to Men's Health, the 43-year-old actor started researching calisthenics a few years ago. One reason was that he got bored with lifting heavy weights, and another was that some of his gym sessions left him injured.

He said, “You need to be able to control your own body weight before you start throwing weights around. That’s what led to The Robards Method.”

And speaking of the benefits of calisthenics, the actor said, “Calisthenics simply doesn’t give you an excuse not to exercise.”

Now the post also states, “On nutrition, Robards follows a 7-2-1 philosophy.”

Below is a more detailed explanation of his dietary approach.

Tim Robards special diet strategy

Robards has followed the 7-2-1 diet philosophy for a long time. According to a 9honey article, Robards once admitted, “The way 7:2:1 works is really, really simple.

Essentially, you want 70 percent of everything you eat to be made from whole, unprocessed foods you find on the outside aisles at the supermarket — that's the seven.”

Next is the 2, which suggests eating 20 percent of what you want. This approach helps when you crave something unhealthy, like pizza or pasta. However, instead of ordering from outside, opt for a healthier pizza with options that are better for you.

Robards said, “Finally, the one means 10 percent of everything you eat is relaxed.

This means if you go to someone's house, or you're at an event, you don't worry too much about what you're eating – it's life.”

So, these are the fitness hacks that help Robards maintain his physique.
