Tom Holland shows off impressive boxing skills during mitt training

We all know and love Peter Parker for his swinging skills, but little did you know that he had quick hands too. Tom Holland, best known for Spider-Man in the MCU, has won hearts worldwide. An Instagram video of him throwing punches racked up 4.3 million views in 24 hours, showing fans a new side of him.

An Instagram video shared by @sportscenter showcased Holland throwing punches with fitness coach Louis Chandler. Captioned “Tom Holland can throw punches,” the video detailed Holland’s punching skills and power as he engaged in a boxing-focused workout at the gym.

“Spider-Man hitting the mitts 👀🥊,” the Instagram video was captioned.

The Instagram post, uploaded on July 30, exploded: 4.3 million views, 260K likes, and over 3K comments, in 24 hours. Clearly, fans were hungry to see this side of Holland.

Alongside boxing training, Holland invested himself in daily HIIT workouts and bodyweight movements to train for his iconic role in Spider-Man. According to an interview with Men’s Health, Holland teamed up with Duffy Gaver, legendary celebrity trainer, who designed the Spider-Man special workout for him.

"We got into crazy shape. We were so fit," Holland admitted.

His Spider-Man circuit included the following:

  • 1 Pull-up
  • 2 Triceps dips
  • 3 Push-ups
  • 4 Sit-ups
  • 5 Squats

Of course, his intense training is just one part of the equation. Holland also followed a detailed diet to prepare for his role.

The 80-20 rule: Why Holland's diet matters more than Boxing

Surprisingly, Holland doesn’t follow any strict or crazy diets, even keeping enough space for cheat meals.

According to an interview with Men’s Health, Holland admitted that he paid more attention to his diet compared to his workouts.

“My diet is far more important than what I do in the gym. I would say for me to see results, it's 80 per cent diet and 20 per cent fitness."

His typical diet is fairly simple and filled with “cheat meals.”

"I have 'cheat meals' all the time, to the point where I can't even call them cheat meals. They're just really 'meals meals.'"

Breakfast, for Holland, comprises porridge with fruits and nuts, followed by a protein shake. He admitted that he skips lunch if he is not bulking. However, his typical lunch varies depending on his current body goals.

Dinners are primarily home-cooked meals with protein-rich recipes recommended by his chef brother, Sam Holland. One of his favorite meals, he revealed, was lentil chili.

Coming to the most interesting part: his cheat meals. Holland admitted that he regularly indulges in cheat meals. His favorite is the Double-Double burgers from In-N-Out with raw onions, he shared.
