Son of Odin might be a god, but Chris Hemsworth uses his mortal ways to look the part!

While Infinity War saw an overweight Thor (used a fat suit), Love and Thunder gave us our old, fit hero back. And now, we fans are looking forward to Avengers: Doomsday. So here's how he is preparing a showdown against the ultimate MCU villain!

Chris Hemsworth’s workout plan for Avengers: Doomsday

Hemsworth’s trainer, Luke Zocchi, planned an alternative day approach for weightlifting. His whole week's routine starts with push day, followed by cardio the next day. His third day is scheduled for pull exercises and then cardio again on the fourth day. Then, the fifth day is dedicated to legs, followed by a cardio day.  This weekly schedule repeats itself, but it is not fixed, though.

Chris’ cardio sessions last 30 to 40 minutes and involve moderate-intensity, steady-state exercise.

His trainer kept him moving and said, “We might do 10 minutes of walking on an incline treadmill, then 10 minutes on a StairMaster, five minutes on a rower, five minutes on a SkiErg – just keep moving every 10 minutes so you don’t get too bored.”

Chris is also practising boxing as well for the role as his trainer stated, “We’ve been doing a fair bit of boxing recently as well.….. He’s been running a bit too, but not crazy long distances.” Hemsworth’s warm-up circuit includes front raise, military press, and lateral raise with light dumbbells. He also performs four sets of seated dumbbell shoulder press with 8-12 reps.

With 3 sets of inclined dumbbell presses and 12 reps each, Chris trains his chest and upper body to look more muscular for his role in the film. To train his triceps, trainer Luke included the cable straight-bar triceps pushdown with three sets and 12 reps.

Other movements include cable rear delt fly, cable lateral raise with a single arm, pull-ups, and delt squats. Besides an intense workout routine, Chris also eats a well-balanced diet.

Diet for Doomsday

For this role, Chris Hemsworth followed an easier diet than his diet during Thor: Love and Thunder, where he had to consume 10 meals of almost 450 calories each. Luke also said that Chris was not comfortable with his big size in the movie.

According to his trainer, “For this one, he’s eating four or five meals [per day], but his diet is nowhere near as strict. We’re not ramming the food down his throat, but he still looks great”. It is because Chris doesn't enjoy eating much. He also added, “It will be interesting to see how different he looks in the film.”
