2024 Mr. Olympia winner Samson Dauda on $4,800 monthly food cost

Modern bodybuilding has its extremes, and one part of it was just revealed by Samson Dauda when he shared his grocery bill, and the numbers turned heads! During a recent podcast, around 2 days ago, Dauda shared that he spends roughly $4,800 per month on food for himself alone.

Dauda plans to make a return to the world of bodybuilding and compete in the 2026 Olympia. So, the $4,800 figure is less a flex and more a statement of fact.

Dauda's food bill comes down to three things, he said: consistency, quality, and sheer quantity. "You won't see much coming out of a packet," he said. "We cook all my meals at home." Most of his meals are prepared from whole foods in his own kitchen.

He has a high-protein diet, chicken, steak, grilled in advance and portioned out for up to two weeks at a time. He rotates between eggs, chicken breast, beef steak, lean beef mince, fish, and whey isolate.

"You're not eating for taste; you're not eating for enjoyment; eating becomes your job."

The numbers on his plate represent just one part of the equation; the other numbers come from the scales.

The $4,800 Diet Behind Samson Dauda's Championship Comeback

This huge change in nutrition is for a reason. Samson Dauda finished fourth at the 2025 Mr. Olympia, and it was a big drop for the reigning champion. Since then, Dauda has planned to bulk up to 350 pounds and already looks the heaviest he has ever been. He already weighs 346 pounds this off-season.

"Literally every offseason, I've kept a cap on how much I want my weight to climb. This is the first time where I'm like, let's go for broke," he said.

Given the physique goal, spending $4,800 a month on top-of-the-line whole foods is not a luxury; it's the foundation.

In 2024, Dauda became the first-ever Mr. Olympia champion of Nigerian origin. But by judging how hard he trains during his off-season period, it can be expected that he plans to win back the belt with more muscle mass next time.

Weighing in at 346 pounds and still gaining weight, the Nigerian Lion is not just eating for size but for what is rightfully his.
