UFC 325: Alexander Volkanovski's Complete Diet and Nutrition Before Rematching Diego Lopez

Alexander Volkanovski is preparing for his UFC 325 rematch against Diego Lopes in Sydney. To power his training, the champion is using a precise nutrition plan. Volkanovski recently shared the details of his diet with fans.

The UFC 325 is scheduled in Sydney, Australia, on Saturday, January 31, and its main event, Volkanovski vs. Lopez, is already creating buzz all over. 

The rematch will be decided later, but before that, Volk gave fans a little sneak peek into his diet routine in a video he uploaded on his YouTube channel, Cooking with Volk, and here is everything to know. 

Volkanovski’s fight-camp training routine is a tough mountain to summit, but with the right team, the UFC champion makes it look seamless. All of his team members communicate and work together to create the best training and diet plan for him.

Alexander Volkanovski’s secret recipe to win the UFC 325 main event

Talking about his process of preparing Volkanovski’s diet plan, his performance dietician since 2019, Jordan Sullivan, said, 

“When Alex is dieting, there are two main goals. So, when you go into fight camp, you have to make weight, first and foremost, but then you also have to be able to do all of the training that Joe (Lopez, his trainer) wants him to do.”

Since making weight requires a fighter to be in a calorie deficit, but training requires eating sufficient calories, Sullivan’s job is to find a balance between achieving his weekly calorie deficit, while also making him strong enough to train and recover. 

Before the actual dieting begins, a body composition assessment is done to determine his lean mass, fat mass, and if he is losing the right amount of body tissue. Once everything is figured out, his fight camp routine begins.

A ready-to-eat meal company, Athletes Nutrition, prepares Volk’s lunch and dinner meals during fight camps. They make healthy meals for pro and amateur athletes according to their needs. For example, for Volkanovski, they create tasty, calorie-dense, macronutrient-rich foods.

Morning - (6:00 am before workout)

Breakfast - (11:00 am after first workout)

  • Eggs on toast

Lunch - (4:00 pm before sparring)

  • Chicken and Noodles

Dinner - (8:00 pm after last workout)

  • Chicken and veggies

UFC 325 Main Event: Volkanovski vs Lopez

At the UFC 314 main event on April 12, 2025, Alexander Volkanovski won the UFC Featherweight Championship by unanimous decision against Diego Lopes. And now, at UFC 325 main event, Volkanovski will defend his title in a rematch against Lopes. 

Volkanovski is the fan favorite for the fight, and the event is extra special for him as it will be held in his home country, Australia, where he will be fighting for the first time in three years.
