Undefeated Boxer Christian Mbilli Enters Training for Canelo Alvarez Showdown
Super middleweight champion and undefeated sensation Christian Mbilli is seen gearing up for what may be the biggest fight of his career. In an Instagram video posted by Ring Magazine, the WBC star readies himself for a clash against boxing legend Canelo Alvarez, set for September 12, 2026. With his undefeated (29-0-1) streak at stake, Mbilli has begun training intensely for the highly anticipated bout.
The first video features him doing dumbbell overhead presses that are designed to work on his shoulders. He then moves on to doing a variation of bent-over dumbbell rows. This exercise targets his upper back, traps, and rear shoulders.
In another recent video, Mbilli is practicing boxing footwork and movement drills. These drills not only train Mbilli to punch and defend, but also how to move around his opponent strategically.
Furthermore, the movements improve agility, ring awareness, and balance, helping him create better angles while avoiding attacks. Repeated practice also boosts his coordination, making his overall movement in the ring more instinctive.
Another video features Mbilli engaging in speed bag training, enhancing his hand-eye coordination, hand speed, and punching accuracy. Mbilli posted a training video from his own Instagram account where he can be seen performing several high-intensity exercises with dumbbells.
Of course, training is not the only essential part of the equation for Mbilli. His preparation doesn’t stop at the gym; his nutrition also plays a key role in always keeping him fight-ready.
Mbilli gives his take on Alvarez’s performances
Christian Mbilli does not think Canelo Alvarez is the fighter he once was. And he plans to prove it on September 12.
Speaking with Ring Magazine ahead of their upcoming clash, the WBC super middleweight champion did not hide his confidence about the matchup.
"It was a surprise for me when they asked for the fight, but I'm very happy to fight Canelo for my next fight," Mbilli said. "He started boxing professionally at 15 years old, he have a lot of fights now. I think his performance is going down but he's still very dangerous. I think it's perfect timing for me to beat him."
Moreover, Mbilli made clear he is not approaching this fight cautiously.
"I'm going to put more pressure, more combination, but I'm going to work my defense, too," he said. "It will be like Christian Mbilli 200%. It will not be the normal Christian Mbilli, will be Super Christian Mbilli."
