“Up the Dosage”-Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Unusual Bodybuilding Advice Grabs Attention

Feb 28, 2026, 5:51 PM CUT

After his glorious years as a competitor, Arnold Schwarzenegger is now known for encouraging the masses to lead a fit and healthy lifestyle, but ‘The Terminator’ is making headlines for a piece of advice nobody saw coming.

On February 27, fitness influencer Mike O’Hearn took to his Instagram to share a video with none other than Schwarzenegger. In the clip, he sought advice from the seven-time Mr. Olympia. In response, Arnie said, “He was asking my advice. I keep telling him. I said change the diet and up the dosage.”

Soon after this remark, both Arnold and Mike burst out laughing, but it triggered speculations about what 'The Austrian Oak' exactly meant.

Well, nobody except Schwarzenegger can detail what he meant, which is exactly why it’s creating such a buzz. In the comments, one fan curiously mentioned, “Would love to hear what Mike wanted to say after that comment.”

Another fan applauded Arnold’s elite sense of humour, “Even Arnold’s haters can’t deny one thing: the man’s impeccable sense of humor.” Well, ‘The Terminator’ is quite the jester, as even people close to him say that he often makes people laugh, either through his jokes or his body language.

That being said, the six-time Mr. Olympia recently had something to say about the fitness influencers who spread misinformation on TikTok.

Arnold Schwarzenegger Took Aim At Fitness Influencers

In the recent edition of Arnold’s Pump Club newsletter, ‘The Austrian Oak’ cited a survey by Zing coach showing that a massive 56% of people aged between 18 and 27 get their fitness advice from TikTok. The report further suggested that at least one in three never checked the information.

Arnold took it upon himself to set the record straight. First up: the claim that he takes whey protein without any liquid. Social media influencers have been pushing it for years, but Arnie believes that this is one of the dumbest ideas. Why? Well, according to Schwarzenegger, it’s more likely to spike your heart rate by delivering too much caffeine.

Second, getting abs in weeks is a popular trend that is gaining prominence, but in reality, it’s the opposite. According to Arnold, “You could do a thousand crunches a day, and it won’t remove the fat covering your abs.”

Lastly, some claim you can flush out internal toxins with medicines or a chia-seed-and-lemon mix. The internet calls it an ‘internal shower.’ Arnold calls it unnecessary.

“Again with the toxins,’ he says. ‘Your liver and kidneys handle detoxification. They’ve been doing it since the day you were born. Chia seeds are fine! They have fibre that you need! They’re not a shower for your insides. That’s not a thing.”

While these types of advice are the ones that fans expect from the 79-year-old, what do you make of his uncanny, "up the dosage" remark?
