Victor Martinez Returns to Back Training After Two Major Spinal Surgeries

Bodybuilding legend Victor Martinez is back in the gym. Following two major spinal surgeries, 'The Dominican Dominator' was seen training his back for the first time on January 16.

On December 23, 2025, while doing his first leg workout with light weight, Martinez explained: “A lot of things I can't do, and obviously more concerned about healing my back…. I feel the pressure on my back”.

However, on January 16, 2026, 'The Dominican Dominator' was healed enough to try his first back workout since his back surgery. "You’ll say, man, it’s nothing - but for me it’s a lot," Martinez said in the joint post with Generation Iron.

Victor Martinez underwent two major surgeries within four months. In July 2025, he underwent a spinal laminectomy to relieve pressure on his spinal cord.

Unfortunately, the bacterial infection that required him go under the knife in July replased and Martinez underwent his second procedure in October 2025. So, while his gym return shows progress, the IFBB Pro star has also revealed his next steps.

Victor Martinez on his next chapter

While revealing to his Instagram fans that his time away from training was focused on recovering his health, he also highlighted his upcoming chapter.

He said, “After taking the time to heal, I'm back, focused, and stronger. This pause wasn't a setback. It was me doing the right thing, the right way. Now I'm ready to relaunch something I've been building carefully, my muscle domination coaching”.

According to Martinez, this program will prioritise “muscle building, nutrition, and private access for support”. He also made it clear that “only 10 members will be chosen”.
