Wesley Vissers reveals it took a decade for his back to match his arms

Known for his massive arm size, Dutch Classic Physique bodybuilder Wesley Vissers always knew his back wasn’t up to the same level. However, after a decade of dedication and hard work, he finally revealed the progress- and he seems entirely satisfied with it.

In an Instagram post shared on June 22nd, Vissers revealed how his back had finally caught up to his standout arms. His transformation highlights an important but overlooked aspect in bodybuilding- progress takes patience and perseverance.

The post, captioned, “It just took 10 years for my back to catch up to my arms ,” highlights the patience and dedication the process took.

As per Fitness Volt, Vissers relied heavily on three exercises to build his back, which he posted on his YouTube channel. These exercises include-

  • 3 sets, 10-12 reps of V-bar or Narrow grip pulldown
  • 3 sets, 8-12 reps of T-bar rows
  • 3 sets, 10-12 reps of seated row bilateral

While his back transformation may have taken a decade, Visser kept competing on stage. Many of them were filled with victories, while some were frustrating setbacks.

The highs and lows of Wesley Vissers’ Arnold Classic Journey

After securing a title at the Arnold Classic 2024, Vissers entered again in 2025, all set to defend his title as Classic Physique champion. However, due to unforeseen illness, he placed fifth, with Mike Sommerfeld claiming the title.

Taking a much-needed break to work on improvements, Visser competed at the 2026 Arnold Classic in Ohio, reclaiming his crown. His win was particularly significant, as Vissers had vocalized his disappointment at the previous 2025 season.

However, the setback simply reinforced the idea that he had to make improvements.

”I won the Arnold. The Olympia went not as we wanted. This Arnold did not go as we wanted" said Visser. "So that, of course, is a clear sign that we need to change something. At the same time, me and Marley have talked about this. I’ve now had two nights where I thought a lot about – I was very excited about taking the break, at first," he added.

Vissers’ Instagram post serves as a reminder that elite physiques don't just happen. They can be refined by years of hard work and persistence. What do you think is Vissers’ most impressive body part- his arms or his back?
