When Donald Trump honored 7x Mr. Olympia and said, "I don't want to compare my muscles"
Every bodybuilder enjoys their hard-earned physique being praised. But the appreciation becomes much more valuable when it comes from President Donald Trump. And seven-time Mr. Olympia champion Phil Heath was honored by Trump in his own candid way last year.
During the Black History Month event at the White House in February 2025, Heath was among other important guests, and Trump addressed him directly in the middle of his speech.
"And we're also joined by the seven-time Mr. Olympia. I want to see this guy, Phil Heath. Where's Phil? Phil Heath. I don't want to compare my muscles. Here he is. Thank you, Phil, very much. I appreciate it," said Trump.
Heath was called to the podium by President Trump and found himself under a different spotlight.
Although no judges were analyzing his form and pose this time, his presence was enough for the sport of bodybuilding to gain a lot more attention.
Heath has had a clear dominant run in the sport. Between the years 2011 and 2017, all the Olympia titles belonged to Heath. He defeated several elite competitors in the run, including Kai Greene, Dennis Wolf, and Branch Warren.
He ties Arnold Schwarzenegger for seven Olympia titles and is often recognized for his 3D muscle volume and peak conditioning.
Heath also cemented his name in the International Sports Hall of Fame.
The former Mr. Olympia's career, already engraved in the sport's record books, just got broadcast to an entirely different audience following the President's praise.
Donald Trump and Phil Heath: The Story Behind That White House Moment
Phil Heath's White House recognition was not something that came out of the blue. Their encounter was hardly a coincidence, as Heath had been working toward that room for years.
After retiring from bodybuilding, the seven-time Mr. Olympia made a visible shift into politics. When Trump singled him out during his speech at the Black History Month reception, Heath didn't hold back.
As reported by Real America's Voice, he spoke directly to the President during his speech, "Mr. President, it has been the honor of a lifetime to support you and to wake up as many people to the lies and the nonstop manipulation of the mainstream media."
Heath has been publicly supporting and advocating for Trump for some time now. His White House appearance proved to be no different.
Can you name one more bodybuilder who was inclined toward politics and had a lustrous career, too, in the comments?
