56-year-old Hugh Jackman's complete arm workout revealed by celebrity trainer
Hugh Jackman has been playing the same shirtless vein-popping superhero for decades. And even at 56, his arms look as muscular as ever. For years, fans have begged for Jackman's workout routine, finally it was revealed by the celebrity trainer who built those guns.
The man behind the muscle is David Kingsbury, a celebrity fitness trainer who has helped multiple Hollywood celebrities sculpt toned physiques, including the likes of Chris Hemsworth, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Michael Fassbender.
'The Wolverine' has two structured supersets for his arms and a hard and punishing giant set. According to Boxlife, Kingsbury has curated these sets for hypertrophy, time efficiency, and maximum fatigue.

The full session runs roughly 50 minutes of curls, dips, and press-ups, targeting every muscle in the arms through both compound and isolation movements.
Superset 1 (x6 sets)
- Floor Press – 6 reps
- Chin-ups (narrow grip) – 6 reps
Rest 60 seconds between sets.
Superset 2 (x4 sets)
- Dips – 12 reps
- Zottman Curls – 12 reps
Rest 60 seconds between sets.
Giant Set (x4 sets)
- Triceps Pushdown – 12 reps
- Medicine Ball Push-up – 12 reps
- Hammer Curl – 10 reps
- Cross-body Curl – 10 reps
Rest 60 seconds between sets.
Jackman's arms trembled by the end of each session, and that was exactly the goal. These workouts do not just focus on the biceps to get bigger; they are functional, need endurance, and are extremely time-efficient.
Kingsbury built the program across four-week cycles, increasing load for three consecutive weeks before resetting and pushing heavier in the fourth.
"It's all about evolution," longtime Jackman trainer Mike Ryan has said. "From one workout to the next, I'll always have something new to add to the equation. Our sessions are based on established principles, but we'll always try to bring new ideas to the table."
Kingsbury has taken a similar approach, and that blueprint is the reason why Jackman's arms are getting better every day.
What Does Hugh Jackman Eat to Support His Intense Training?
Abs are made in the kitchen, and so are arms. The diet behind Hugh Jackman's jaw-dropping physique at 56 is a story worth telling. Kingsbury had a ruthless approach to following the diet.
Every calorie, every micro and macro had to be counted. Carbs were strictly to be avoided after 3 pm, and there were no carbs on rest days. Clean, whole foods were non-negotiable.
The diet mostly consisted of foods like black sea bass, grass-fed sirloin, chicken, eggs, sweet potato, brown rice, and spinach.
Jackman had to bulk up hard for Deadpool and Wolverine. He pushed his daily calorie intake to 6,000 calories. "It's chicken, tilapia, and beans," he told Jimmy Fallon. "It's not the calories you necessarily want."
Jackman took no off days and no cheat days. He was consistent and timed his meals and was very conscious of portion control.
The bitter pill to swallow is that the arm routine alone would not have sculpted such amazing arms. Diet was equally important in fulfilling the contract, and Jackman kept every term of it.
