7 Sylvester Stallone action scenes that screamed peak physique & endurance

One of the greatest action stars of all time, Sylvester Stallone, defined an entire subgenre of movies where athleticism met combat choreography to create some of the best action scenes in all of Hollywood.
Here are 7 action sequences from Stallone's movies that bear testimony to the physical efforts he put into preparing for them.
Rambo III (1988)
Following a soldier's journey to Afghanistan to rescue his old pal, this movie packed some intense action scenes.
However, the true highlight of this sequel was the mid-movie failed rescue scene from a Soviet fortress, where Stallone's stealth had the audience holding their breath. The archery scene was the cherry on top.
Cobra (1986)
A detective thriller action movie, Cobra, plunged into sizzling, violent encounters head-on. Beginning as Cobra meets one of a cult of serial killers in the prologue, who had taken a department store hostage, it jumped right into action, which, inevitably, set the entire mood for the film.
Demolition Man (1993)
A utopian future of 2032, where crime has been eliminated, yet something feels unsettling. Here, Stallone's cop Spartan takes on a violent criminal, Simon Phoenix, famously, at the 'Hall of Violence' museum exhibit scene, where the two come face-to-face, shooting at each other like the retro 90s scenes.
Bullet to the Head (2012)
One of the most brutal yet gripping fights in Hollywood history, Stallone's character as a hitman wasn't the most inventive, but definitely among the most terrifying. Chasing the assassin (Jason Momoa) who killed his partner, the movie's climax comes with the bloodthirsty ax-fight scene.
Assassins (1995)
Forget chase scenes and hostile encounters. Assassins flips the norm of the usual action equation, with the enemies sharing the same taxi, separated by nothing but a bulletproof glass inside, as the chit-chat dissolved into a heated combat scene with Stallone's Rath against Miguel.
The Expendables 2 (2012)
Featuring some of the best action luminaries of Hollywood, like Sly, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Bruce Willis, this film was a dream come true for many movie fanatics. And it paid off exactly as expected, with the final airport fight scene, where Schwarzenegger, Willis, and Stallone fought side-by-side.
Rambo (2008)
One of the most gruesome instalments in the franchise, the entire movie was a harrowing piece of gory art. The finale delivered a satisfying ending, as Rambo manned a gigantic machine gun to clear swathes of enemy soldiers all by himself.
Clearly, Stallone has starred in some of the most challenging yet rewarding action scenes in Hollywood. Which one's your favorite?
