Alex Pereira and Tracy Cortez’s Fitness Regime: Here’s How UFC’s New Power Couple Trains
When the MMA community was waiting for another title defense from Alex Pereira, he dropped something completely unexpected. The light-heavyweight champion of the world has become beau of Tracy Cortez.
We’re just as shocked as you are, but before we get into it, let’s take a look at how the couple trains.
How Alex Pereira Trains Himself?
Having knocked out Magomed Ankalaev, Jiri Prochazka(twice), Jamahal Hill, Israel Adesanya, and many more, Pereira’s workout regimen is as intense as it gets. ‘Poatan’ trains twice a day, totaling about two and a half hours (and sometimes even three) for the day. His normal training routine looks like this.
Mon: Strength 1 + MMA technical drilling
Tue: Strength 2 + grappling/striking sequences
Wed: Conditioning + steady-state or interval cardio
Thu: Strength 3 + heavy MMA repetitions
Fri: Strength 4 + advanced drill mix
Sat: Conditioning + MMA drill volume
Sun: Recovery work
Alex Pererira likes to rotate his schedule, but the rest day remains constant. His training includes boxing, kickboxing, wrestling, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and much more.
Now, let us move on to Cortez.
How Tracy Cortez Trains Herself?
With a career record of 12 victories and 3 losses, Tracy Cortez is one of the best Flyweight fighters out there, and her training is equally brutal. Currently being trained in Brazil, Cortez is focusing on her wrestling more now.
“I’ve been working on everything. Mostly, I want to say just sharpening up my wrestling, keeping it sharp. My striking, I’ve been working on my striking a lot,” said Cortez in her conversation during a Noche UFC Athlete Panel, via Cageside Press.
She further added, “I went over to Brazil for a while, trained with the Pitbull brothers. I just grew. Got out of my comfort zone. I wanted to evolve not just as a person but as an athlete. I just felt like it was time. I’ve been really trying to evolve overall… I’m very confident in my wrestling, I’m very confident on my ground.”
Her full workout routine remains a mystery, but with Alex Pereira by her side, she may have gained a few insights into the power behind his iron hands.
