Arnold Schwarzenegger Inspires Fans’ Return to the Gym
Arnold Schwarzenegger is the encyclopedia of the world of bodybuilding and fitness. Fans not only study his life journey but also take motivation from his words and habits.
One such follower is Amy Berger, a keto nutritionist and USAF veteran, who recently explained on X how the Austrian Oak has inspired her to return to the gym.
She said, “I've found inspiration in a place I never would have expected, and from someone who has no idea how much his words are resonating with me, and how much encouragement I'm getting from him”.
Berger also added, “After scrolling through @Schwarzenegger's tweets recently and going through older episodes of his podcast, I've been more consistent with strength training than I've been in the last three years (at least!). I don't enjoy doing it, but I know how critically important it is, and I don't have to enjoy it to be consistent and just *get it done”.
She admitted that despite knowing all the benefits of strength training and consistency, her negative thoughts always stopped her. She explained that Arnold's way of explaining things and positivity helped her come back to the gym.
The 7 time Mr. Olympia winner, who borned with congenital heart condition and always bounced backed from life failures and earned all the success recently twitter, “Show up every day for yourself because you are worth it. The days you feel like crap? You’re still worth it. In a way, it is a shortcut, because you stop wasting time searching and start working”.
And clearly, Amy Berger has adopted this narrative and finally ended her Twitter with gratitude.
She added, “Thank you, Arnold!”.
Not only Berger, but other fans get inspired by Arnold and his Pump Club.
Amélie Fillion, a mother of 6, credited her journey of “weight loss, recomposition, feeling stronger, more solid and capable every day” to Arnold Pump club.
The bodybuilding legend also shared some of the wisdom he has gained over the years with the Pump club members on the occasion of his 77th birthday.
Best practices of advice by Arnold Schwarzenegger
On July 30, 2024, he gave 77 life lessons, and below are the five of the most inspiring pieces of advice:
- Everything starts with a vision: according to him, one must see it clearly before achieving it. He said, “When I say clear, I mean so clear that it plays in your mind like a movie”.

- Decide who, not what, you want to be: he suggests making the vision a part of one's identity. He said, “Don’t say, I want to be fit. Say, I want to be the person who everyone looks at on the beach”.
- Reps, reps, reps: repetition is the key not only for the gym but also in life.
- Your mind can be your greatest enemy: your mind can be one's biggest naysayer. So, it is important to learn to overcome self-thoughts before overcoming anyone else.
- Find joy, not happiness: Arnold said, “People chase happiness, but I think they should chase joy. Happiness is fleeting. You can feel joy when you’re struggling. You can feel joy when you’re grieving the loss of a dear friend. Joy, to me, is having a sense of purpose. It’s what gives meaning to life”.
