Arnold Schwarzenegger has suggested a one-week diet that has nothing to do with food or fitness. Instead, the Hollywood icon is targeting mental health. He points out how negativity has an impact on our health and is offering a 'crash diet' to fix it.

In his Pump Club newsletter, Arnold Schwarzenegger has revealed a short-term mental reset plan to reduce the impact of negative thinking and exposure to distressing information called the “Zero Negativity Diet.” Following this seven-day approach can change how you respond to everyday problems.

The 78-year-old explained in his Newsletter, “I’m asking you to go on an all-out, no-holds-barred, Zero Negativity Diet for one week. I want you to get a taste of what life can be when you don’t allow pessimism, cynicism, outrage, and all those other mood-k****** in."

According to scientists, optimistic people have an 11% to 15% higher chance of living longer and a 50% to 70% higher chance of living beyond 85.

The plan does not involve changes in diet or following any hardcore training regimen. All you need to do is target your mental habits, particularly the consumption of negative content and unproductive thought patterns. According to Schwarzenegger, frequent exposure to negativity, especially the one spread through social media, can affect both mental and physical well-being.

  1. So, the first rule of the plan dictates that exposure to social media use should be restricted. Try limiting your usage to three sessions per day, each lasting no more than 10 minutes.
  2. The second rule is to shift from complaint to action. The focus is on taking practical action instead of dwelling on negative thoughts. When faced with a problem, do not dwell on it; take action instead. Whenever you are faced with any issue, write down actionable steps that can help solve it.
  3. The third rule is to practice daily gratitude. Every day, write down at least one thing that you are grateful for.

The bodybuilding icon has recently been seen emphasizing mental health, encouraging people to ask for help whenever required to reduce mental load.

Arnold Schwarzenegger's One Rule to Manage Stress

While answering a fan’s question about how he manages stress, Schwarzenegger shared a straightforward approach in his newsletter. His advice is to focus all your energy on completing one task at a time.

"Don’t try to solve every problem at once. Split things up into what you can conquer, and then move into the next thing."

He also advised not to take others' opinions too seriously when managing setbacks.
