At 100, Joan Eichner believes that a few simple, steady habits are the secret to her long and fulfilling life, and she doesn't mind sharing them with the world.
Eichner, a resident of Dallas, Texas, is redefining what it means to grow old. She recently celebrated a major milestone, becoming a centenarian. She celebrated surrounded by friends at her local YMCA, but she actually lives alone.
An Instagram reel from the Today Show celebrated her unique feat, alongwith sharing her words of wisdom, which can help people live longer. Eichner stressed being disciplined and staying active, stating, "When you don't want to get out of bed in the morning, get up, keep going."
Being a water baby, the Moody Family YMCA is her favorite place to visit. She makes sure to come here three times a week for her water aerobics classes and enjoys spending time with the teacher and other members. She credits this routine as the secret to her longevity.
Speaking toToday, she said, I don't feel any older. I try to keep my life going. I love being alive, and I love all the things I do and see. So it keeps me going."

Even at 100, Joan Eichner does water aerobics three times a week. Besides the exercise, she enjoys the social aspect of it too. She loves to mingle and socialize with other people at the pool.
Have some hobbies in life
Besides water aerobics, Joan Eicher's hobbies include solving crossword puzzles, reading the newspaper, and walking.
Enjoy eating fruits and vegetables
Joan mostly eats a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables, and occasionally treats herself to wine and chocolate.
Be an active part of your community
Besides water aerobics, a constant part of her routine is attending Sunday School at her church. And even at this age, she participates in activities to help her community. Some of her projects include making finger puppets and pillows for patients at Dallas Children's Hospital and Medical Center.
Spend time outside the house
Joan Eichner is a social person, and her outdoor activities aren't just restricted to visiting the YMCA and her church. She enjoys lunch with friends and spending time with some plants at the Dallas Arboretum.
