Chuck Norris' transformation from 45 to 85: The fitness rules he never compromised

Mar 19, 2026, 12:53 PM CUT

Decades after his action-film prime, Chuck Norris has maintained his physical fitness well into his eighties.

A photo was uploaded by an Instagram handle '@chuck_norris_icon' four days ago, showing a side-by-side comparison of the martial artist at 45 in 1985 and at 85 in 2025.

Although he looked visibly aged in the photo, what's more shocking is that Norris still looked ripped, flaunting his defined arms.

It seemed like instead of pumping the brakes on workouts, Norris is still pumping the iron hard. He hasn’t stopped training, but workout priorities have definitely shifted over the years. In his mid-40s, during the height of his acting career, his routine included martial arts, intense strength training, and conditioning. In those days, his focus was on power, speed, and on-screen athleticism.

Now, at 85, his focus has shifted towards longevity and maintaining joint health while still focusing a bit on strength. According to Men’s Health magazine, Norris trains a lower-impact routine regularly, alternating between strength, cardio, and core sessions, with some days dedicated to martial arts and pool-based training.

In an interview with The Healthy, he revealed, “I try to stay very active, and I believe that a body that keeps moving, moves – and one that stops, stops. So before I start my exercise, whether it’s martial arts or a session on the Total Gym, I find that moment of clarity and peace is something I can’t skip.”

In 2024, Norris uploaded a video of himself performing a 140kg barbell curl, which he referred to as a warm-up. In March 2025, he celebrated his 85th birthday by climbing California’s Mount Lassen, which is more than 3,100 metres.

Well, fans are leaving no stone unturned praising the Texas Ranger.

Fan Reaction to Chuck Norris Looking Ripped at 85

As soon as the picture went viral, fans were in awe of the actor's dedication to fitness.

One user commented, "He looks better at 85 than the average 50-year-old in the U.S." The famous Chuck Norris jokes seemed to find their way in the comments section as well, with one user commenting, "So 85 made it all the way to Chuck Norris."

Another funny comment on his physique was "Chuck broke the photography lens flexing his bicep." One more user commented, "He doesnt age, he levels up."

A user commented on Norris' longevity and commended him for being fit at this age, "He's a martial arts master. He lived as healthily as he could, and now he's in better shape than the average 85-year-old. We need more Chuck Norris like him."
