Cody Johnson shares the fitness habits behind his stage stamina
Being a noted country singer like Cody Johnson isn't easy, as it requires performing on the stage for hours while being on the road. This is why the 39-year-old maintains a few fitness-related habits that make his task easier.
Johnson spends a significant part of the year touring and performing across various locations in the West, including the UK, Ireland, Canada, and more. It's quite understandable that maintaining a strict fitness routine in such a scenario becomes far more difficult. However, he still takes care of both aspects of his fitness that help him stay stage-ready: working out and diet.
"It’s really more diet: Meat, fruit, cheese, eggs only. We’re doing a little yoga." said Johnson to Country Now on June 23. "I do a lot of peptides and things like that, but my gym at home is where I really do my hard workouts."
Johnson also elaborated on what he does to maintain his fitness while being on the road. He disclosed that he is joined by a partner for such sessions.

"Me and my security guard, Jason, will get out there, and as long as we get 30 minutes of good cardio or good yoga stretch or just loosening up, it really helps me on stage," said Johnson as per Country Now. "Because I mean, you know I don’t stand still on stage, so I really need to kind of be loosened up."
But while the singer does so much to stay stage-ready, an untoward incident in October 2025 made him go on a three-month hiatus.
Why did Cody Johnson take a three-month break in 2025?
Despite the workload, performing on the stage is what makes Johnson feel alive. And it took a medical condition to separate him from the stage for three months.
On October 9, the news of his eardrum bursting was shared by Arizona Family.
"In a statement made Tuesday, the country singer said he had been battling a severe upper respiratory and sinus infection, and the severity of the eardrum rupture meant he needed immediate surgery."
While Johnson revealed how the recovery process took a mental toll on him, he also described its positive side. He stated that the hiatus gave him ample time to spend with his family and recharge his body.
With his latest album, Banks of the Trinity, released a couple of days ago, have you tuned into any of the songs?
