How Cristiano Ronaldo trains & fuels for international competitions
Ronaldo has always believed that what he eats is just as important as how hard he trains.
As per the Daily Mail, Ronaldo has often talked about the importance of mental strength to do what he does.
“Mental strength is just as important as physical strength,” Ronaldo explained.
When it comes to training, Ronaldo’s primary workout is a split between cardiovascular training (rowing or running) and weight training. He said that he likes to “Mix it up,” so it doesn’t become boring.
He further elaborates on the high-intensity drills he and his teammates perform on the pitch.
“We do a lot of high-intensity drills in training, and they can be incorporated into your workout, whether you are in the gym or outdoors,” he said, as per Goal. “Try and add it to every workout you do,” is his advice.
He also shares how he fits in workouts anywhere he is. “Fit in exercise whenever you can. You can do an abs workout in your bedroom when you wake up in the morning or before you go to bed. If you get into a routine, then it makes it easier as it will become a habit,” he advises.
He revealed how he eats up to six times a day, ensuring he always has adequate energy for each session. Furthermore, he shared how he completely avoids alcohol.
“A good workout must be combined with a good diet. I eat a high-protein diet, with lots of wholegrain carbs, fruits and vegetables, and avoid sugary foods”. He admits that his favorite dish is bacalhua a braz, a mixture of thinly sliced potatoes, scrambled eggs, cod, and onions.
Ronaldo continues to show us the importance of consistency in longevity.
