‘Drama in Bodybuilding’- Lee Priest Talks About the Current Scenario of the Sport
Australian bodybuilder Lee Priest is known for much more than just his massive physique. The former IFBB pro has always been brutally outspoken, frequently voicing his opinions about bodybuilding trends.
In a recent Instagram video, Priest hilariously points out how modern bodybuilding has shifted away from its old-school roots, focusing more on politics, entertainment, and shying away from controversy.
“I just want the bodybuilding community to know, anytime there is drama in bodybuilding, I will make an AI video about it, because some of you f****** need to learn to have a laugh and not take s*** so seriously.”
This was Lee being his classic, blunt, unfiltered self. He has been using AI tools to create humorous, often satirical videos poking fun at current bodybuilding controversies and rivalries. These videos have become very popular, with fans loving his no-holds-barred style and willingness to call out hypocrisy in the sport.
Priest has often talked about how he despises the recent trend of “cancel culture,” arguing that the bodybuilding community has become overly political and soft, filled with controversy and drama.
At 53 years old, he remains very active on social media and continues to train hard while entertaining his audience with this new wave of AI content.
But Priest is serious about one thing: bringing bodybuilding back to its original glory.
Priest Shares His Honest Solution for Modern Bodybuilding
According to Priest, the only way bodybuilding can bring back its authenticity is to focus on discipline and competition once again. Instead of chasing online drama and controversies, Priest believes that the bodybuilding community should “learn to have a laugh and not take things so seriously.”
He often stressed the importance of bringing back old-school traditions. He fondly remembers the time when bodybuilding, as a sport, used to be primarily about hard work, dedication, and consistency.
“Why here we have these big muscular men... taking steroids, but yet you want them to be choir boys. It's like okay let him have some fun, have a little bit of drama,” Priest shared during an interview with MuscleTVonDemand on YouTube.
Whether or not fans agree with Priest's opinions is debatable. However, his recent comments have definitely sparked a fresh debate online. The video also has fans questioning whether the sport has drifted too far from its authentic roots.
